[/size][/blockquote]i lied, they're not the von trapp family at all. i don't know if any of them can sing either. anyway, my newest character character, lucette, would love some family! all the playbys below are totally optional, but if you do take one of them up (and i'll love you forever!) and want to change the playby, please just check with me first! some of them i'm quite particular about because i think they make the perfect siblings. i apologise for the horrific length of their bios - their characters have played a formative part in lucette being the way she is so it's important that they're right!
the siblings
okay, so these are lucette's siblings, and the ones i'm most keen to have around. she's the middle child, between xavier and evelyn. they were all born in australia, but moved to england when their mother got sick when lucette was eight. the boys' playbys i'm totally open about - to be honest i couldn't really think of anybody so i whacked those two in there. evelyn and camille's playbys, however, i'm afraid i'm not willing to negotiate - i think they make really good sisters and look similar to phoebe tonkin, who's lucette's playby, so i'd really like to keep them.
ARTHUR MILTON DEVEREUX
TWENTY EIGHT, BUSINESSMAN, JAMES FRANCO
okay, this is the eldest child of the whole family, and basically the perfect man. he seems flawless - he's got excellent brains, he's very sporty (he can do any sport he puts his mind to, and do it well), and he's responsible and level-headed and pretty much everything you'd want in an oldest son. he was twelve when the family moved to england, so he was already at school in australia, and was joined before long by his younger brother xavier. upon leaving school, he moved to london and joined his father's company where he moved quickly up the ranks and now holds one of the highest positions - obviously being the ceo's son helps, but much of his speedy ascent is thanks to his own brilliant head for business.
as for personality - arthur is responsible, sensible, and often far too serious, especially when compared to his rather frivolous younger siblings. he's also quite one-track minded, and often rather funny as a result without intending to be. like all the devereux siblings, he has a slight superiority complex and a stubborn streak a mile wide - when his father attempted to send him off to a riding camp with his siblings the summer after he left school, he walked out the next day and moved straight to london to get involved in the family business without a word. (he only stayed the night to shag a very pretty stablehand, by the way.) he is painfully bright, easily the brightest of all his siblings, and has a frankly astounding head for business. even his father is in awe of him sometimes. he has a lot of money as a result of his brilliance, and currently resides in a smashing penthouse apartment in central london. he's good with money, though, and saves much of it rather than frittering it away like his siblings would. his one weakness is good suits, and will spend a lot of money on them regularly to ensure that he always looks good.
he's closest to his brother xavier and middle sister evelyn - and of course babies and is hugely overprotective of camille, like the rest of the family - and has a slightly strained relationship with lucette since her lack of ability to be serious about anything bothers him massively. she also mocks him relentlessly because she's jealous of his closeness to their father thanks to his work and position in the family.
XAVIER HUGH DEVEREUX
TWENTY SEVEN, EVENTER, JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT
xavier is similar to his older brother in some ways, and very different in others. he has his athletic ability but none of his seriousness or business acumen. he's a professional eventer and now the owner of lucette's adored horse prince charming who is foul to everybody except the two siblings, but he's such a brilliant horse that they adore him despite his faults. xavier is famous on the eventing circuit and one of the top in the country, and a serious olympic prospect - although nobody is sure, should he picked, whether he'll choose to compete for australia or britain, since he belongs to both. xavier doesn't really care - he lives very much for the moment and rarely gives any thought to the future.
he's the most easy-going of all the devereux siblings, and you'd be hard-pressed to annoy him since nothing ever ruffles his feathers. he gets along best with lucette, since the pair spent a lot of time together when they first moved to england and arthur was at school. xavier attended school in australia like his brother and spent a while in france a few years after graduating because he got tired of lucette and his father arguing with each other about whether he should compete for australia or great britain if he did get picked for the olympics. he keeps to his own counsel and doesn't talk very much, preferring to keep his thoughts to himself. he's definitely the quietest in the family, but much loved by his siblings for his kindness and calmness. he's the one the girls will all run to if they've got a problem or need comfort. he is most lavish with his affections to his horses, and is extremely attached to them - the badly-behaved but brilliant prince charming, prince's mate horace who he won't go anywhere without, kingdom come, and tequila sunrise.
EVELYN CHARLOTTE DEVEREUX
TWENTY, OPEN JOB, MINKA KELLY, RESERVED
evelyn is the sibling i have the least developed, so you'd have the most freedom taking her on. like i said, however, i'm very set about her playby, sorry! she makes a great sister to jenna louise coleman below and phoebe tonkin. evelyn is similarly quiet to her brother xavier, but hers is a conscious decision rather than a natural calmness like xavier's. evelyn was always a little left-out, when the kids were younger, since the eldest three tended to band together and camille was too young for her to play with. as a result, she much more reserved than her siblings, and has many more friends outside of the family, preferring to spend time with them instead. she does get along well with her oldest brother arthur, and he's the only one she spends a large amount of time with.
she and lucette used to fight like cats but they get along much better these days, probably thanks in part to evelyn returning to school in australia while lucette went to hogwarts - the sisters, upon spending a large amount of time apart, realised that actually the other wasn't all that bad and they're much better friends now, although they still piss each other off pretty regularly. evelyn i think has quite a lot going on in her head - not any mental illnesses or anything, she just thinks a lot and even if she doesn't always say much, you get a hint of how fast and varied her thoughts are when she speaks, since she tends to hop around from topic to topic and speaks incredibly quickly. she did incredibly well at school, and is the only really academic one of the devereux kids. her job is totally up to you - just please don't make her a healer because she's too selfish for that! otherwise it's completely up to you.
camille is the youngest devereux sibling and the baby of the family through-and-through. her gentle nature and sweet disposition mean she's universally adored, not only by her family. she loves meeting new people and making new friends and can usually be found surrounded by other people. she might not be the life and soul of the party, but she's always there for whoever might need her afterwards with tissues or to hold back hair or anything really. the family moved to england when she was still a baby so she remembers nothing of australia, and has the most english accent of the lot of them - in fact, the only time you really get the hint that she's not entirely english is when she says words such as "water".
she has an important plot point too - if you look below, you'll see that she is the same age and in the same year as her maternal cousin peter herriot. i'd like to see the pair of them get to know each other and hopefully overcome their families' prejudices against one another. the devereux kids think that the herriots are hopelessly beneath them and refuse to have anything to do with them, and the herriots think that their cousins are silly stuck-up idiots who need taking down a peg or two. i'd love for camille and peter to make friends and hopefully bring their families together.
the australian cousins
as blonde as their cousins are dark, this set of devereux siblings were all raised in australia and attended school there. their playbys are totally negotiable, but i'd really like it if you could pick fair-haired playbys please!
HENRY RICHARD DEVEREUX
TWENTY SIX, BUSINESSMAN, BRADLEY JAMES
i'd really love to have henry! he's lucette's favourite cousin, and she's living with him in london at the moment. he was born and raised in australia and went to school there obviously, but he came to london about five years ago to work with arthur at his uncle's company. he's much less serious than arthur and loves to have a good time, and he's not as good at his job as his cousin but he's still good and makes a lot of money from it.
he likes to party and just generally lives life absolutely to the maximum. he does, however, like downtime as well, and you're just as likely to find him and lucette curled up on the sofa watching a film together as out in a nightclub dancing. apart from his general attitude to life, the rest is up to you - i really don't mind about his playby, so long as he's blonde, or his sexuality or anything. he gets along well with his sisters, and his relationship with his parents is a little distant since they've never been very hands-on with their kids but he does love and respect them both very much.
GEORGIA CAROLINE DEVEREUX
TWENTY TWO, FASHION INTERN, GABRIELLA WILDE, RESERVED
again, this playby is completely negotiable, but i do love her so i'd be thrilled to bits if you used her! georgia is quite high-maintenance and can be a little reserved but every now and again she just lets loose and goes crazy and then she's so much fun it's a bit scary. obviously she's very beautiful and has a lot of guys after her, but she's in a steady relationship at the moment (i picture the guy as being very kind and outgoing, but you're more than welcome to change that) and she's happy in it. she and lucette get along like a house on fire and go shopping regularly together. she's one of lucette's closest female friends. she also moved to london, a couple of years after her brother, when she was offered an internship with alexander mcqueen after studying fashion design at a muggle university in australia. it suits her perfectly since she's so glamorous and just adores fashion.
ELIZA ANNE DEVEREUX
NINETEEN, OPEN JOB, TALULAH RILEY, RESERVED
eliza is the family wild child and gets up to mischief pretty much every other day. she's coming out of a rebellious phase that lasted pretty much her whole teenage years, in which she drank a lot and partied very hard and got a couple of tattoos and piercings. her parents despaired of her but she was sick of being overshadowed by her siblings and cousins and so decided to go as far as possible in the other direction.
her personality, apart from being wild obviously, is completely up to you. whether she's very insecure, confident, whatever, is your choice completely! the cousin she's closest to is evelyn, since they are only a year apart and were at school together, and evelyn is the only one who knows that eliza got pregnant at fifteen and aborted the baby. eliza pretends she doesn't care, but she's started to think more and more about what would have happened if she'd kept her baby - and she's beginning to realise that she really regrets aborting it, and that she wishes she'd kept it. i was thinking that possibly she'll get herself pregnant again soon, deliberately, to try to "fix" the situation - whether or not that happens is up to you though! i think, despite it all, she'll make a perfectly good mother, and of course her family would support her so being a single mum would be a little easier than if she was completely alone.
the english cousins
these are the devereux family's cousins on their mother's side. they are both english through-and-through, attended hogwarts, and their personalities are pretty open. their parents aren't that well-off, but the siblings are close. lucette at least considers them very beneath her, but i'd love to maybe plot to overcome that if anybody took them on. playbys here are totally negotiable, i just think they're nice faces but i'm not attached to them otherwise.
JEMIMA --- HERRIOT
TWENTY FIVE, OPEN JOB, KATIE MCGRATH, RESERVED
jemima is a year older than lucette, and was at hogwarts at the same time as her, although a year above. when the devereux family first moved near to jemima's house, she attempted to make friends with them but was completely ignored and didn't bother attempting again. she did, however, try to help lucette when the girl first arrived at hogwarts, knowing how scary it must have been starting a new school with an unusual accent and in what was almost a foreign country. lucette, however, was lucette, and snubbed jemima so thoroughly that jemima now absolutely hates her guts.
she's very close to her mother, who was young when she had her (only seventeen), and their relationship is more like sisters. their father isn't around and jemima's mother has to work full-time, so when she was younger she spent most of her time taking care of peter so her mum could work. when her aunt arrived home from australia jemima was thrilled - she adores her aunt to pieces, plus once the other woman was better she could help out with peter.
her personality is pretty much up to you - i imagine she's quite popular and friendly, but you are welcome to make her a bitch if you prefer, since that can be really fun too. she just needs to dote upon her brother and be very close to her mother and aunt. her job, too, is up to you, as is her house when she was at hogwarts! i'd love it if you take her on - if the plot between peter and camille works out, it would be lovely to have lucette and jemima put aside their differences and become friends in the end.
peter i'm afraid i'm a little bit more particular about than jemima. he's very much a typical teenage boy - likes to spend time with his mates, chat up fit girls, avoid homework, etc. he's a nice boy with good manners, and generally has the air that life is just too much for him, but that he finds it awfully funny nonetheless. he's definitely a clown, always having the rest of the class in stitches and getting detention for cheek a lot of the time because he just cannot resist a quip, even if the situation is entirely inappropriate.
he hates his sister fussing over him but deals with it anyway because the pair are very close. i imagine he has a fair few friends, plus that year is pretty big so there's lots of options for you for rping! it would be great if someone wanted to take him on to carry out the plot with camille, which will basically involve them becoming friends somehow (how is up to you!) and reconciling the two families since they're currently at odds.
the half-brother
once again, this playby is totally optional! i literally had a total mindblank trying to think of one, and jesse eisenberg is pretty so i picked him. but anyway, this is oliver white, half-brother to lucette and her siblings. as you can see, he's the same age as lucette, and i would really really love to have him played for the plot that i'm going to explain below!
his history is thus: milton devereux, the father of lucette and her siblings, never loved his wife. they got married by accident in vegas and he thought it would be more embarrassing to get a divorce, so he took her back to australia with him and they proceeded to have all of their children. unbeknownst to his family in darwin, however, milton kept a series of mistresses in sydney, where he would spend his weeks while working, and return home at the weekends. oliver's mother cara was the longest-term of all of these, a very beautiful actress who milton kept in a very luxurious lifestyle. despite their best efforts, the woman fell pregnant literally two weeks before milton's wife billie did for the third time, and gave birth to a son a fortnight before lucette arrived.
milton kept the child a secret, and has financially supported both mother and son ever since. since he spent all his weeks in sydney, for the first eight years of oliver's life he practically lived with them - spent more time with them, indeed, than he did with his legitimate family up in darwin - and thus he has a very good relationship with oliver. cara white always believed in being frank with her son, and so oliver was always aware that his father had another family, although it took him until he was ten or eleven to discover that this wasn't normal and to begin to question the set-up.
when the devereux family moved to england, oliver was distraught to lose his father. he was only eight years old, after all, and he couldn't understand why he didn't get to see him any more. fortunately, cara was shortly cast in a film that was to spend ten months shooting in london, and so oliver was reunited with his father. after that, milton began flying out relatively regularly to see his son under the pretext of work, and his family to this day have no suspicions about what he was really up to. oliver attended school in australia with his two half-brothers without either of them being aware of the other (to this day, all he knows about his half-siblings is their surname and the fact that there's a girl the same age as him, and two other boys and two other girls), and in fact played on the same quidditch team as xavier for five years without ever picking up on the matter. he wasn't looking out for it, after all.
as far as his personality goes, he's quite similar to his half-brother xavier, and scarily so to lucette. he's relatively easy-going, which is why his father's double life has never bothered him, but he has the same curiosity, superiority complex, and sharp wit as lucette. despite being relaxed most of the time, oliver can be a hothead like lucette and fly off the handle if the mood strikes him, and has little patience for others like his sister. he does a lot of talking and is clearly bright like his half-siblings, and is an absolutely world-class bullshitter who was a legend at school for the one time he forgot he was supposed to leading a debate team, snuck off campus and got smashed the night before, and then pitched up the next morning with absolutely no speech prepared and somehow managed to win nonetheless.
as for the plot i mentioned above, i would really like to see him played because i'd like to see him come in search of his siblings - specifically lucette, since they're the same age. it will be so much fun to play out since she'll at first just assume that he's making it up, and they'll probably hate each other at first, but i think in the end that their similarities will have them reluctantly realising that they actually make a pretty good team. so, yes, i would really love to have him around if you fancied it!
