WEAKNESSES: Spending too much money, pretty women, can hold grudges

PERSONALITY:
The majority of the time, Ian is a really sweet guy. He's friendly to everyone around him and can easily make plenty of friends in a crowded room full of people he hadn't known moments earlier. He's the type of the guy that can slide into any situation and make himself fit right in without trying too hard or being awkward. It's a trait he's very appreciative of because he loves to meet new people and make new friends. While Ian has a very diverse and large set of friends, he does have a few close friends that he's grateful for and wouldn't trade for anything.
Most people probably think that Ian is harboring a deep secret because of his upbeat and merry demeanor. Because no one could be that happy, could they? But it's true: Ian is that rare genuinely happy person. Sure, he has his problems, but he won't let them ruin his life. Life's far too short to be depressed or grumpy over trivial things; there are people out in the world who deal with much worse than him on a daily basis and he's thankful for his life.
That doesn't mean Ian has all happy days, though. Sometimes, though it's very rare, he has bad days. He usually finds ways to make them better, though, because he hates wasting energy and time on being down. As was stated before, Ian has a diverse group of friends. Not all of them are jubilant like himself - and he wouldn't want it that way, either. He enjoys spending time with all sorts of people and he won't let their mood affect his. Unless, of course, it's something serious, and then he'll sympathize with him. But, at the end of the day, Ian believes his job is to lift others' spirits and that's exactly what he tries to do - no matter how difficult the job.
There is one thing, however, that will usually put Ian into a sour mood: his stepfather. As a child, Ian grew up resenting and loathing his stepfather. He was always difficult with him and sometimes downright mean. As the years went by and Ian matured, he began to realize that his stepfather wasn't so bad - but he didn't want anyone else to know that. So he still pretends to dislike his stepfather and often has a cool demeanor when with the man. Ian knows it's childish, but he feels as if he's betraying his father if he admits that his stepfather isn't so bad.

Familyhistory
FATHER: Clive Fleming, muggle, biological father, 49 years old, pilot. Clive and Caspian were like any typical father and son; they had their bad moments, but got along for the most part. They were more like friends than a father and son; that might have something to do with the fact that Clive was rarely home due to do his career as an airline pilot. During the custody battle, Clive fought long and hard for his son and ultimately lost. It damaged their relationship because Caspian wasn't allowed to see his father much. Now they barely speak, but he still remains loyal to his father.
MOTHER: Helena Knightley, muggleborn witch, 49 years old, English professor at Oxford University. Caspian is close with his mother, though he resented her as a young boy after the divorce. They've had plenty of downs and only a few ups, but things are slowly moving in the right direction now.

2) Honor Knightley, step-sister, 19, halfblood
3) Atticus Knightley, half-brother, 13, halfblood
4) Roger Knightley, step-father, 50, halfblood
HISTORY:
Ian was the second child to be born to Helena and Clive Fleming, eight years after they had their first child. Neither had planned on having another child because their lives were so busy with their careers, but alas, birth control failed. Helena was, and still is, an English professor at Oxford University. Clive was, and still is, an airline pilot. Helena, as an English professor, is a lover of all literature and art and film, etc. and named both of her children after two fictional heroes. Clive never argued the names, but also didn't seem too thrilled with them and he mainly uses nicknames for his kids.
Ian's parents were hitting their prime in their careers and couldn't really be bothered with another children, though neither of them believed in abortion. So they each reluctantly took time off from work to prepare for their new child, which was just the beginning of their material problems. Almost directly after Ian was born, Clive went straight back to work, leaving Helena alone with a newborn son and an eight-year-old daughter. She wasn't happy with him and was perhaps also a bit jealous. (Workaholic people never make for good parents.)
As soon as she could, Helena went back to work. Calixta was in muggle school and Ian was left with a nanny. This was the routine for as far back as Ian can remember. As a toddler, he was very close with his older sister because they were the most family each other had. And when the parents were around, they each spend time with their respective gender parent: Helena and Calixta, Clive and Ian. Ian developed a close relationship with his father because it was always the two of them. They would go camping or fishing or mountain-climbing; whatever they did, they always had a blast.
Ian grew up in the muggle world and had no knowledge of the magical world. He assumed his sister was going to a regular old boarding school and didn't think anything of the special things he could do. He thought everyone could do them. When Ian was five and his sister was thirteen, their parents sat them down for a chat. Helena and Clive told their children that they were getting a divorce. Ian didn't understand what that meant, but it didn't sound good. The next thing he knew, his parents were arguing over him and his sister. They eventually went to court, where it was decided that Helena would have main custody over the two kids and Clive would be allowed visitation rights. He visited the first few years, but it got less and less as Ian got older.
Almost directly after their divorce, Helena had a boyfriend move into the house with her. He had a daughter, Honor, that was the same age as Ian. The two never get on well. Ian began to resent both his mother and this new man; he wanted nothing to do with him. His sister was away at Hogwarts and unable to do much about her brother's discomfort. Calixta was also descending into a vat of self-destruction, unable to handle the stress of everything. To make things worse, nine months later, Helena gave birth to another son. Her pregnancy was different this time; she wanted it and was glad to take time off from work to raise her new son. Ian felt replaced, jealous and angry. He thought about killing the baby boy several times.
The years went on without much change. Helena and her new husband, Roger, were as happy as could be. They had a child together, plus three others (Calixta, Honor and Ian); what wasn't happy to be about? Roger seemed to have changed Helena for the better; she was more of a family woman than a working mother. After Calixta graduated from Hogwarts, she overdosed on meth in an attempt to kill herself. Luckily, the Healers at St. Mungo's were able to save her. It was then than Helena discovered her daughter's life of drugs, alcohol and sex. Calixta was sent to a rehab center and Ian didn't see her much before he went to Hogwarts himself.
Ian and Calixta became closer whilst so far away from each other. They were both locked up with no friends and a miserable (or so they thought) family life. Ian's first year of Hogwarts was his least favorite, but also the one that caused him to make a change in his life. He reflected on the way his sister reacted to the divorce and getting a new family. He decided that he didn't want that to happen to himself. So for his second year, Ian returned with a bang. He laughed and joked around and made friends with everyone he could. Whenever he looks back on that time in his life, Ian is always thankful for the change.
Hogwarts was fun for Ian, even if he had to share it with his step-sister, Honor. Luckily they weren't sorted into the same house (Ian was in Gryffinor, while Honor was in Slytherin.) Those were also the years Ian got to tease Honor the most. He constantly played pranks on her or messed with her head and she did the same to him. They spent the first few years at Hogwarts always trying to show each other up. When they were in their seventh year, their half-brother came to Hogwarts. It kind of changed them both. They still messed with each other, but they also began to look out for one another. They both really care for one other, but they'll be damned if they admit it.
Ian graduated from Hogwarts with okay marks. He didn't really have an idea of what he wanted to do with his life, so he didn't take school too seriously. Ian wants to work with kids when he finally gets his life on track; he's not sure how, but he knows that he wants help out kids in need. For now, though, he's content with his job at Qaulity Quidditch Supplies.
