PERSONALITY:
Maeva was brought up in a healthy environment and therefore was a happy young girl. Her parents enriched her with all sorts of teachings as a young girl, which only brightened her even more than she already was. She was fascinated by magic and her father noted that she was a very powerful witch. She never believed him until she got to school. She essentially dumbed herself down because she didn't want to be a superstar. She felt self-conscious about having so much magical ability. She regained that confidence when her father started tutoring her.
That confidence strengthened when combined with Maeva's physical looks and popularity. She could wrap boys around her finger so easily - which pissed off her brother. Marcel was the typical protective older brother and didn't want any boys near his sister. The siblings' relationship, however, never weakened for most of their adolescence.
After her parents' disappearances, Maeva withdrew from everyone and everything. She was angry and didn't let her angry, which made her spells and charms that much more powerful. She came cynical and factual. Facts were what tugged her on, because they were logical and made sense. She softened up a bit after having her son, but still to this day, she's been known to snap at fellow employees or speak very plainly to them.

AND I’M THE ONLY ONE
Familyhistory
FATHER: Drystan Rosier, 70, retired Ministry Official. Drystan is the older brother of Death Eater Evan Rosier, who was killed in 1980 at age 25. He is the [first] cousin of both Andromeda (Black) Tonks and Narcissa (Black) Malfoy, as their mother was his father's sister. Drystan was born the same year as Andromeda (1953) and he's a kindred spirit like she is, though he delved into the Dark Arts when he younger - mainly to learn how to defend them better. He blames himself for getting Evan mixed up with the Death Eaters and Lord Voldemort. His mother was Welsh and insisted on giving her two boys Welsh names. Drystan is a good husband, father and grandfather. Maeva was very close with him growing up. However, when she was 15, he disappeared. Never to be heard from again - though he believed to still be alive.
MOTHER: Anastasie Rosier (nee Dubois), 70, stay-at-home mum/housewife. Anastasie was born and raised in France. She attended Beauxbatons. They married late in life, in 1988, and two years later, Anastasie had her first child - a son. Two years after that, Maeva was born. Anastasie was a good mother, whom insisted on giving her children proper French names, though they lived in England. She spoilt her children rotten and they had a very healthy family dynamic. But, like her husband, Anastasie, too, disappeared when Maeva was just 15 years old. There are currently no leads or traces.
CHILDREN:
1) Gabriel Laurent Rosier ("Gabe"), fourteen, halfblood
2) Charlize Janelle Devereux ("Lizzie"), six, halfblood
OTHER IMPORTANT FAMILY:
1) Jacques Devereux, husband of eight years, professional Quidditch player (Ludlow Teucrians - yeah, I'm joining Ellie's team! xD Don't hate). About a year ago, Jacques never returned from a Quidditch match. There were no martial problems, nothing that would make him walk away without at least leaving a note. He wasn't that type of guy - he was a devoted (and faithful) husband and father. No one knows what happened and the case is getting little attention now at the Ministry, though there are still officials still working on the case. No traces of Jacques have been found anywhere and there is evidence of his disappearance being related to those of her parents, though Maeva believes that it's too coincidental.
2) Marcel Rosier, older brother, 32. Maeva and Marcel used to be very close and they even shared the same group of friends. It wasn't strange to them. But their relationship changed drastically when their parents disappeared. Maeva was angry and scared; and Marcel could only do so much to console her, as he was dealing with his own emotions. Eventually, he left his baby sister after graduating Hogwarts. They were estranged for many years, but are recently beginning to reconcile.
HISTORY:
It was many years before Anastasie and Drystan crossed paths, which was a surprise to everyone. They were both attractive and from well-to-do families. But Drystan was staying low because of his brother and Anastasie had never been out of France. They met when Drystan was on holiday in France and they fell in love almost right away. They married in 1989 and two years later, Marcel was born. Maeva was born another two years later.
Many pureblood families are thought to be cold, rude and egotistic. The Rosier family, whose origins are in France, was much different. They were proud of their pure blood, but didn't flaunt it like most others. (Only select family members did.) Drystan was brought up in a family setting much like that of which he raised his children, as was Anastasie. It was easy for them to fall into a healthy routine of family dynamics, not enmeshed like so many other families. Their children were happy and outgoing.
Maeva showed her first sign of magic at age five. For such a sweet girl, she had trouble controlling her magic - more trouble than most children do. She eventually had to do certain exercises when she was feeling overly excited or overly upset, so the magic wouldn't harm someone or break something. She gained most control of her magic by the time she entered Hogwarts, where she was sorted into Ravenclaw. While she was powerful at a young age, she tried to hide it. She didn't want to be the greatest, the best, etc; she just wanted to be an eleven year old girl learning to use her magic the correct way. When she was thirteen, her father sat her down and started teaching her all about the Dark Arts. He didn't practice them himself, but he thought it was important that both of his children learn about them so they could defend better against them.
Her father's tutoring gave her confidence and Maeva, slowly, started to let her true magical powers shine through. Her third and fourth years at Hogwarts continued quite normally - lessons, gossip, boys, make-up, clothes and drama. She was popular in school and also a beautiful young woman. Many boys fancied her, though Maeva was picky as to whom she'd go out with, or even kiss. She wouldn't let a boy distract her from her schoolwork, which was probably a turn-off. But she couldn't have cared less at the time being.
Maeva's fifth year was one that turned her life around. Right before she and Marcel returned to school, their parents mysteriously vanished. They didn't leave a note to explain their absence or signs of anything. Maeva and Marcel returned to school, hoping to hear word from someone (preferably their parents.) They never did and instead returned home for the Christmas holidays to an empty house. Marcel did his best to take care of his little sister, but she was withdrawing from him and becoming angrier than ever before. Her brother, dealing with his own emotions and stress and life, gave his sister the space she needed. Weeks after returning to school in January, Maeva and Marcel had a loud argument in the Great Hall and they've been estranged since. Maeva, now having no guardian and not knowing the first thing about taking care of herself, was forced to live with her father's aunt, Druella. She was miserable and depressed.
Come November of her sixth year, Maeva's life would change drastically. At a party, she was drunk (drinking away her sorrow) and slept with someone. She'd not sure who the boy was and she never asked. She barely remembered any of it, anyway, and assumed the same thing had happened with Him. During the Chirstmas holidays, Maeva had an epiphany: she was pregnant. Her period was late, she was throwing up every morning, odd cravings - even her boobs were tender to the touch. Maeva reluctantly confided in her aunt, who seemed a bit surprised, but nonetheless was supportive. They went to St. Mungo's and had a test run; sure enough, Maeva was six weeks pregnant. The only thing she felt upon finding out was joy. The Healers offered Druella the option of the abortion potion, as Maeva was underage and couldn't consent herself. They discussed it for several days and eventually decided against it.
Of course, the school was notified and appropriate measures were taken. Maeva didn't even tell her best friends at the beginning - she wanted the happiness to last as long as possible, because as soon as word got out, everyone would be shaming her. As her stomach grew, people started jumping to conclusions - she had a beer belly, she's a small girl so she must be starving herself and it's all air in there, she's pregnant. The latter was true and Maeva began to tell certain people, but it made it's way around the school faster than the Golden Snitch can fly.
In early June, Maeva went into labor. She was rushed from the school to St. Mungo's, where she waited seven painful hours to finally give birth. But there turned out to be complications - the particular potion Healers give to pregnant woman, Maeva was allergic to. She started vomiting everywhere, which put the baby in distress. To make matters worse, the baby was breeched. The Head Healer (do you reckon witches call them OB/GYNs? xD) finally decided to preform an emergency C-section. When Maeva woke up, all she wanted to do was hold her newborn baby. She didn't know the gender, but didn't care - when her baby boy was in her arms, she was in love with him instantly. She gave him a French name, as her mother would have wanted.
Raising a newborn wasn't easy. Maeva returned to Hogwarts briefly to take her year-end exams, but then was right back in her aunt's home. Druella helped as much as she could, having raised three girls of her own. But she was growing older and weaker herself. Maeva wasn't able to attend her final year of school - she was a mother now. She didn't mind, though; she would have hated to miss Gabe's first year of life. Druella eventually passed in 2010 and Maeva was literally alone, with her baby boy. She had money, but she would need more at some point - baby things were not cheap. She got a job at St. Mungo's, cleaning and doing laundry - all of the grunt work. It wasn't exciting, but they have a nursery/daycare for kids of workers and Maeva was able to bring Gabe with her, as she had no babysitter.
Maeva had always excelled when it came to healing things. She loved Herbology as a student. Soon, most of her time was spent watching the Healers at work (the emergency stuff was particularly exciting!) and following them around. She took in everything they did and practiced as much as she could. This was a regular occurrence and Maeva's own grunt work was suffering. When she was nineteen, she was stalking out the emergency part of the hospital and found a young man in pain. He had a broken arm and a twisted ankle. The rest of the Healers were busy, so Maeva boldly took over. She healed the broken arm with no problem, but had no idea what to do about the twisted ankle. (Would the same charm work?) About that time, an actual Healer walked in. She wasn't pleased with Maeva and reported her after fixing up the Quidditch player, Jacques, who would eventually be Maeva's husband.
She expected to lose her job, get thrown out on her ass. But the Chief of Staff, Mark Dashwood, surprised her. While he did reprimand her for her actions, he offered her a spot in his internship program. Maeva was ecstatic and agreed right away. She worked long and hard during that internship, always making sure to say 'thank you' to Mark or smile at him whenever she saw him, because what he did for her deserved so much more than she could offer. During her internship, Maeva saw a lot more of Jacques. So much, in fact, that she asked him if he was purposefully getting hurt on the field just to come and see her. (He requested her by name.) They soon started dating and things started looking up for Maeva.
She and Jacques were married at twenty-two (though she didn't take his last name) and continued on in their professions happily. Gabe was thrilled to finally have a father around; they could now go and do 'boyish' things together that Maeva wasn't keen on doing. She was glad to see her son so happy. When she was twenty-four, she gave birth to a girl. Since both Jacques and Maeva were French, they thought it was best to give their daughter a French name as well. Gabe was eight, but he was pleased to 'not be an only child anymore' - though he was a little disappointed to have a little sister, instead of a little brother. He helped his mother out and always asked when Lizzie would be able to play with him.
The years passed smoothly since then. Gabe turned eleven and went off to Hogwarts, Lizzie started showing signs of magic, Jacques team got better each season and Maeva was happy doing her job. Little drama occurred in the family and when it did, it was settled immediately. But a year ago, Jacques disappeared. He never returned home after a Quidditch game. The teammates said they went out for drinks as usual and he was there, but no one knows what happened when he felt early. Maeva believes that the disappearances of her parents and Jacques are related, but the Ministry doesn't seem to think so. During that year, she reached out to her brother. For support. She hadn't wanted it nearly fifteen years ago, but she wanted it now. Slowly, they've been reuniting, working on both cases as much as they can. But they both have jobs and families to look after.
