HAIR: A bit of a dirty, scruffy blonde. Generally has that slightly rumpled I-just-stopped-having-sex sort of look.
HEIGHT: 5' 11"
BUILD: Muscular, and relatively lean.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Tattoos and piercings aren't really Neil's thing, but he's collected more than a handful of scars over the years.
SKIN TONE: Tanned, although not to the point of leather-y. It is the suntan of a man who spends the majority of his time doing physical labour outside, rather than the tan of a man with the time or inclination to laze on a sun-lounger.
I WALK THIS EMPTY STREET
Personality
DISLIKES: School (when he was there), people who are afraid to get their hands dirty, overly pernickety people, feeling confined, & unnecessary deceit.
LIKES: Dragons, women, alcohol, smoking (though he doesn't often - he has some regard for his health), & fresh air.
BAD HABITS: Drinking and sleeping around. Accidentally breaking hearts. Never calls if he says he will, ladies!
GOOD HABITS: Always wipes his feet, good at socialising with people, never leaves a job undone.
WEAKNESSES: Pretty women, endangered dragons and apple crumble.
STRENGTHS: Dragons (okay, I know they get mentioned a lot but they're a bit part of his life, alright!), seduction (...again), & cooking Italian food.
PERSONALITY: Neil is a love-'em'-and-leave-'em kinda guy. Always the life and soul of a party, he has a knack of getting on with people from all walks of life. He doesn't mean to break hearts, it just happens when he's around. Most people don't realise until it's too late: he's just too nice and down-to-earth and simply practical for people to peg him as 'that guy'.
For someone so outgoing, he can sometimes be strangely reticent about his home life: it's nothing sinister - his rationale is that there's merely nothing to tell. His mother died in a freak muggle care accident when he was in his thirties, and he pops homes occasionally to check up on his dad. None of the women in his life are ever there long enough to have any true significance, and there are definitely no kiddywinks loitering around! He likes being a bachelor, and the independence it gives him, particularly as he feels it complements the self-sufficiency of his life and chosen career.
All in all, he's a pretty happy chappy.
ON THE BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS

PET(s): Oh, please. He lives on a dragon reserve.
WHERE THE CITY SLEEPS
Relationships
AMORTERIA: Apple crumble, the air after a storm and dragons.
MIRROR OF ERISED: He's not actually sure. He'd say 'happiness', but he's pretty darn close to that. Possibly for his father to be happy once more, rather than himself.
VERITASERUM: There really aren't that many - he's not a complicated person. If pushed, then perhaps he'd tell you the exact number of detentions he got at Hogwarts, or how he gets baby dragons with colic to eat without spewing fire all over the shop. Tricks of the trade, women he's slept with and past escapades are all he really has in the cupboard-of-skeletons.
BOGGART: Anything happening to the dragons. It's sad, he knows, don't worry.
DEMENTOR: His mother dying - it was completely unexpected, and completely illogical. It wasn't her death as such that was the worst part - it was his father's reaction to it: they had been together all of their adult life (they were teenage sweethearts), and were more like two halves of the same person than an old married couple. It broke his father's heart, and he's never fully recovered.
PATRONUS: The first time he stepped onto the dragon reserve- he instantly realised this would be something that he would love and instinctively be good at... it felt like home, but better.
AND I’M THE ONLY ONE

HISTORY: From an early age, it was clear that Neil Chilcott was not necessarily destined for academic brilliance. He bumbled along happily enough in school: attended (most of) his classes, passed the majority of his OWLs without any outstanding marks, and only a couple of failed exams. He was a rebellious little soul, though likeable, and spent a disproportionate amount of time in detention for smoking and drinking and general mucking around. Nothing major; but nothing likely to win him a student-of-the-year award, or even a prefect's badge.
He left Hogwarts after his fifth year, choosing not to take his NEWTs. His mother was devastated, his father resigned but unimpressed. For Neil, though, freedom beckoned and he went willingly. A chance meeting in a pub when he was seventeen and working as a hospital porter at St. Mungo's led to him boarding a ship and heading off into the wild unknown. The mysterious man with the purple-streaked beard and the awful suede jacket lurking in the corridor turned out not to be a mental outpatient as Neil had originally surmised, but rather a dragon tamer from Slovakia attempting to conceal 20% burns to his chest. Neil was captivated by his tales of the wild and beautiful creatures he worked with, and handed in his notice at St. Mungo's the next day.
His life would never be the same again. He'd finally found his passion in life, and it was brilliant. With it came enthusiasm, vitality and a zest for life. Dragons became his life, and he was bloody good at it. Before, he'd been a bit of a rebel without a cause, now he was confident, suave and dangerous. Within a couple of years, he'd bulked out a bit and his sex appeal rocketed. He loved it, and definitely used it to his advantage!
Over the next fifteen years, Neil cemented his reputation as one of the best dragonologists in the business. He had a knack for working with both irritating people and majestic dragons, and quickly became known as a likeable, affable and infinitely useful contact. With a devilish twinkle in his eye, and an ability to seduce any woman out of her knickers, he also became much envied.
It was at the dragon reserve he met one Jack Hewer, and through him, a Ms Isabella O'Malley. He's never been in love - and maintains that he never will be - but he
