PERSONALITY: Sheldon is basically a ruthless businessman whose only aim in life is success; he cares for little else. Once he sets his mind to something it will take a minimum of an apocalypse to stop him. He doesn’t easily change his opinions and is biased. He believes in first impressions and stands by them.
Sheldon hates the idea of a family and any talk of it annoys him. He can be very impolite when censuring and hurts people with his words more than he realizes. His childhood traumas have affected him deeply and though he would never admit to it, the wounds have never healed and he spends many sleepless nights wondering how his life would have been if he had had a normal set of parents. He scorns age old practices and doesn’t believe in marriage.
Sheldon is very clear and precise in his decision making and doesn’t hesitate to put down anyone who stands in his way; the only people who can persuade him are his friend and his sister. But while deciding, he takes into account every possible angle so that he isn’t normally wrong. He can be charming when he needs to; he likes deceiving people that way. Having learnt early in life that a thing done best can always be done better, he strives for perfection so much that sometimes he wears people around him down.
He is naturally a very closed up person and though he pretends that he is an open book, it is really a set of lies he repeats enough times so that it seems true. He never acts like himself with anyone because underneath it all, he can be very soft and caring and easily hurt. He keeps himself safely hidden, locked up. He will risk everything for something he believes is worth it, even if it means endangering himself. He helps anyone he knows needs him; he likes making people feel safe; something he had never felt in his own life. He is very short tempered and often says words he regrets later, but it takes a lot for him to apologise to someone.
Ever since he was mugged in London when he had worked too long into the night during the summer of his sixth year, he took care to make himself strong physically and exercises daily. He was diagonised with diabetes when he was 24 and has avoided anything sweet ever since. That is the extent of his care for his health; he likes pushing himself to the limit to see how far he can go. On the rare occasion that he has free time, he spends it dabbling with magical plants. He likes growing them simply because he feels a kind of gratification from it. He cannot bear to see anyone in pain. Consequently, he donates a large sum every year to St.Mungo’s, though he has not set foot inside the place in his life. He also aids needy kids for their education, his patron from Hogwarts days having impressed him. But he keeps these under wraps because he hates the publicity it would bring; he is in the spotlight enough for his contrary character and radical behavior.
His one other indulgence is flying. He cares a lot about Quidditch but it is flying that is his passion. He has a large ground behind his home in St. John Woods where he spends hours sometimes simply flying to his heart’s content.

HISTORY: Sheldon was born in France, on the coast in a simple though dilapidated fisherman’s house. He has no memories of his mother who left them a few months after he was born. It is said that she ran off with a French wizard but Sheldon never bothered to investigate it. His father was a simple fisherman who had turned cynical when his mother left. He took to drinking and ultimately turned abusive. Though he was the younger one, Sheldon took most of the beatings to save his sister, the hard words of his father failing to make any impression on him in the span of a few years.
When he was barely four years old, his father had lost all interest in his job and whiled away most of his days by the dock, completely forgetting the responsibility of his two children. Sheldon’s sister was the one who worked odd jobs all through the day to feed herself and her brother and on the rare occasion that he wasn’t stone drunk, their father too. Right from the tender age of five, Sheldon took to helping people on the dock, doing little errands for them and contributing what he could to ease his sister’s burden. It wasn’t much but Sheldon couldn’t remember a day when his sister had complained about it. The best memories he has of his childhood are the evenings when he and his sister would sit on the dock, their legs dangling as the sea lapped on them, watching the sun set.
When he was about eight, a nasty storm blew through the coast and all fishing businesses had been halted. Neither he nor his sister could find jobs. They were helpless and broke but their father didn’t seem to be even bothered. Enraged, Sheldon spoke back to his father and was hurt so much he fell in a fever that he wouldn’t have woken up if it hadn’t been for his sister. But his strength had resolved by then and after that, incidents began recurring where he spoke back to his father. Once, when his father came to hit him he raised his hands in defense and his father got blasted away to the other side of the house. Frightened of what his father would do and terrified with himself, Sheldon escaped to the dock and hid in the bottom deck of a big ship. He could feel the ship rock and tumble, but he thought it was the rise and fall of the tide he had felt on the coast. He hid in the basement, feeding himself from the sacks of bread that were kept there.
It took him a few days to gather his courage to walk out of the ship but what he saw shocked him. There was no recognizable harbor; the surroundings were unfamiliar and he couldn't understand the language either. It seemed familiar but he couldn't place where he had heard it. He was frightened to talk to any of the strangers but his experience with the people who docked back at his home gave him the needed edge. Soon, he found out that the place he had come to was England, a place he had heard wonderful stories about.
Sheldon spent a few days roaming around the place aimlessly and observing the people. He decided that he had would make his living here, somehow. He had been given a chance and he wasn’t going to mess up. Glad that he wouldn't have to face his father again, Sheldon spent a few cheerful days in Muggle London.
The bright city lights losing their charm soon enough, Sheldon sought out a place for sleeping; he found none. Accidentally stumbling upon the Leaky Cauldron, he discovered the reason for the strange happenings around him, delighting in the fact that he was special. The owner took pity on the innocent faced boy who spoke with a weird accent, letting him stay in the stores room. He got himself a job there as a server, saving up the money he received as wages carefully, though he had no idea what he would use it for. His enthusiasm to learn, determination and charming manners soon attracted a lot of attention but he was impervious to it all, only concentrating on the future that seemed bleak and colorless to him.
One thing that affected him most was that he didn't know his original name. His father had never called him anything other than ‘boy’ and his sister had been too full of endearments to use his name. So Sheldon made himself a name that sounded regal in his opinion; one day he would suit the name, he told himself repeatedly. He began dreaming of becoming a famous, respected person and even when he was awake, he would observe the few posh people who came in the bar and would try to imitate them when he would be alone, the sacks of flour and sugar in the stores room his only audience.
Like a starved person discovering a ton of sweets, Sheldon spent every minute of his spare time in Flourish and Blotts, reading up any and every book he could get his hands on. At one point of time, Sheldon was much too attracted by the Dark Arts. Being able to manipulate people to his wishes, being able to inflict pain on those who hurt him; it appealed to him like nothing else. But one day he stumbled upon the book about the evil wizard called Voldemort who had lived in much the same conditions as him. As he read the book, his interest in Dark Arts was cut with a snap; Sheldon lost all interest in the subject, realizing how disgusting his own thoughts had been. He wouldn’t turn up evil, he told himself resolutely.
When he turned eleven, he received his Hogwarts letter. It was the first and best surprise of his life. With added help from the bar owner, he used the money he had saved over the years to finish his first year of education when he was offered a scholarship. At school, he was placed in Slytherin where he remained aloof but for a very few close friends. Within his circle of friends, he was every bit the faithful and cheerful friend though outside of it, not many people dared approach him, held at bay by his brooding looks that he used to his advantage. His only concentration was on his studies and the only thing that drew him away from it was Quidditch. The two halves driving his life, Sheldon used his seven years at school to gather as much knowledge about the wizarding world as he could and realised that his passion lay in business, not in becoming an Auror or a Healer or even a Quidditch Player; the professions his professors had suggested for him. He was a Prefect for his house and ultimately Head Boy.
As soon as he graduated, Sheldon found himself several jobs at odd shops, never staying too long at one. He wasn’t working there to settle, he was merely observing and gaining familiarity; he was determined about that. When he was sure that he had enough experience to run his own place, Sheldon started a small quill shop of his own. He was barely nineteen at the time and still untried. He lost as much as he gained and sometimes, he lost more. But he absorbed everything as lessons, never making the same mistake twice. Over the years he expanded and diversified his business radically and the major turn of events in his life came when he took over Quality Quidditch Supplies. Though he had long stopped playing it, the sport still held a place in his heart.
Through his ups and downs, right from his days at Hogwarts, only one person had stayed beside him; his friend. He was the only person in the world Sheldon trusts beside himself and who understands his reasoning and actions. They were business partners but more importantly, they were best friends.
Though Sheldon was outwardly quite successful in his life, the years of hardships and a failed home life had taught him a lot of lessons. He had lost faith in the concept of a family and love; he couldn't accept the fact that someone could care for a person so much that they would give their all; he never could. He hated his family with all his might and even went in search of them to show them how he had fared.
What he found was a tired, worn out woman who had once been his elder sister and her fatherless son. Sheldon’s dad had died one stormy night when he had ventured too close to the dock drunk. His sister's life had been miserable ever since he had left; having to work for a living and having to look after a drunkard father had taken its toll on her and when the one person she had loved enough to marry had left her, she had completely broken down.
Sheldon tried to make her come back with him to England but she refused sternly so he did his best to make life for her and her son comfortable; he achieved a lot of success in it too. He visits them as often as he can, and dotes on his nephew, careful to not have his life lacking anything.
Sheldon’s social life is strictly business related and he never dates the same girl twice, earning the title of a playboy; he doesn’t bother to correct it. He mingles extensively for purely business purposes and has a lot of connections in the Ministry. His offstandish attitude is seen as pride which he encourages; since it keeps away unwanted people.
