If you want a cheerful, fluffy beach-read of a book, then, to put it bluntly, 'The Stars Weep Tonight' is definitely not for you. This beautifully harrowing biographical depiction of Bellatrix Lestrange explores the infamous descent into insanity of one of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's most loyal followers.

It weaves brilliantly but excruciatingly between her troubled and traumatising childhood and her later life as a cruel and vicious, though magically accomplished Death Eater, as well integrating intriguing psychological theories as to the origin of her well-documented madness.

Gorgeously and intelligently written, this book is a must-read, for amateur historians and the general public alike.
