HISTORY: Noelle was born to a wealthy, pureblood family that had always been involved with the Dark Arts, though not explicitly or extravagantly so. Her childhood was one of stifled luxury: a whirlwind of social functions and ministry balls. Her parents were distant and stiff, maintaining minimal contact with their offspring, and she never particularly got on with William or Charlotte, disagreeing with the way they unquestioningly swallowed their parents' ideology.
She was considered a society beauty as a teenager and young woman, and the vestiges of that still remain to this day, evidenced by her clear skin and good bone structure. Due to her good looks, prestigious family name and large fortune, she received many marriage offers, despite the reputation for being hot-tempered, outspoken and headstrong that she soon cultivated, and the fact that she tried to rebel against the constraints of society as often as she could. It was partly (mostly) to enrage society dames that she began to research concepts of blood equality, although she began to believe more and more in equality the more she found out about life.
It was ironic then, that Noelle, the more open-minded, idealistic member of the family should fall head-over-heels for Rabastan Lestrange, a man known to be in Lord Voldemort's inner circle. At the time of meeting Rabastan, Noelle was engaged to be married to Augustus Ineson, a man much older than herself, but wealthy and advantageously connected - needless to say, it was not a love match. Knowing that her parents would not let her break off the engagement herself, she manipulated events to ensure that she would be caught in a compromising position with another man. It worked, and Ineson broke off the engagement, effectively causing her to lose her position in society - although her family name still counted for a lot - but leaving her free to encourage Rabastan's pursuit of her.
Because of her disgrace, she was deemed an unsuitable wife for Rabastan by his family, and therefore became his mistress instead of his wife. He kept her in luxury, never disclosing the true nature of his work for the Dark Lord, and so her life continued until she was twenty-eight. It was then that her world came crashing down, as Rabastan was sentenced to lifetime imprisonment in Azkaban, and, her ruination, it would seem, was complete.
To the surprise of many, however, she stayed loyal to Rabastan, though she was plunged into relative poverty at the loss of his patronage. She muddled along in various jobs for six months, working in bars and restarants, helping stock-count for shops, even - for a very short time - working as a stripper. After about half a year of this unfulfilling lifestyle, the Ministry of Magic introduced its programme of granting visitation rights to prisoners serving long sentences.
Noelle only visited Rabastan once before the programme was hastily cancelled, but it was an, um.. passionate afternoon, resulting in the conception of Kale - which may have partly been one of the reasons the scheme was withdrawn.
Noelle's pregnancy simultaneously ruined what was left of her life and improved it immeasurably. Pregnant with a publicly hated Death Eater's child, she was blanked in the street, and refused many employment and accommodation opportunities. The first six months of her pregnancy were the worst of her life, as she faced a loathing public and a scathing press, all the while struggling to scrape together a living - no mean feat for someone who, until less than a year ago - had never had to work in her life. Nevertheless, she refused to be cowed, and maintained both her pride and her dignity, despite many attempts to humiliate, belittle and vilify her.
Sensing she'd never achieve anything if she applied to work for other people, she took the plunge and, drawing on her childhood and natural organisational skills, set up her own events organisation business, based in Diagon Alley. To even her own surprise, it was a huge success, providing her with the means to support herself and her unborn child.
Seventeen years later, Noelle has a son who is the most important thing in her life, a thriving business, and is mostly accepted by both pureblood and muggleborn society.
