PERSONALITY: Ben is a shy, caring, and generally calm and collected guy. He prefers to spend most of his time by himself, or else with his really good friends, because he’s not the greatest at meeting and interacting with new people, which he regards as being “socially awkward.” However, there is another side of him that has to be a people person for his job, which he really enjoys, because he loves writing and editing. Though he can be pessimistic at times just like everyone can, he always strives to settle for optimism and making the best of any situation that life throws at him. He’s kind and accepting to everyone, and people tend to like him when they first meet him because of his amiable nature, even though he’s not confident about himself at all most of the time. He’s a great friend and can listen to his friends’ problems for hours on end without getting annoyed. Because he doesn’t get out a lot, his job tends to dominate most of his life and despite his best efforts, he can be a workaholic sometimes, though he does try to balance out his life properly between work and fun.

HISTORY: Ben grew up in close-knit family of his father, mother, and himself, until he was six years old and his baby sister, Eva, was born. To this day, his sister is still one of the most important people in the world to him, even though he doesn’t see her much at all anymore since she’s at Hogwarts. He has a wonderful relationship with both his mother and father, though he knows that his mother loves him more and his father loves Eva more. His father has never voiced his disappointment in the kind of person that Ben is, but even so, he’s always had a feeling that he didn’t live up to the expectations of being the outgoing, athletic, perfect gentlemen that his father wished for him to be, but he’s learned to cope with that.
Upon arriving at Hogwarts, he was sorted into Ravenclaw without a second thought by the sorting hat, which, for some reason, hadn’t surprised his mother at all but did surprise his father, who had been anticipating (not hoping) for him to be sorted into Hufflepuff. He didn’t make many friends until a few months into first year, because he was very shy and quiet even back then. The close friends he did make are people that he still talks to regularly, because they've all known each other for over a decade now. He was always the smartest in his year, which he hoped would make up for the fact that he wasn’t as popular as his father wanted him to be.
He was never too great with girls - he didn’t have a proper girlfriend until sixth year at Hogwarts, and nothing else too significant happened with his romantic life during his last year at school or the few years after graduating from school that he's spent living on his own in his own flat away from home. He’s still shy when it comes to actually having feelings for someone, because he’s never experienced feeling strongly for anyone before, but since he’s optimistic, he can see himself falling in love eventually if it’s with the right person. Also, even though he’s not confident, he can end up flirting a lot, but only if he feels comfortable with someone, which usually doesn’t happen often for that very reason.
During his earlier Hogwarts years, his ambition was to follow in his father's footsteps and become some sort of Ministry official, but as he matured and got older, he realized that he would probably need better people skills to do so. Instead, he ended up taking an internship at the Daily Prophet right after graduating from Hogwarts, since writing had always been one of his favorite things to do. Soon after, he became a full-time journalist for a period of three years. He was recently promoted to the position of assistant editor, but he still writes stories when needed, unless they’re stories regarding Quidditch or any other recreational activities.
