I WALK THIS EMPTY STREET
Personality
DISLIKES: reading, writing, boredom, getting lost on her own so she has to read street signs, the library, thinking about the past, planning for the future, being alone.
LIKES: spending time with her father, being with her friends, dogs, horses, Muggle tape recorders, shopping, teachers who are patient with her.
BAD HABITS: if she can't deal with a situation she just backs away from it, needs to sleep with a light on, depends on others to help her find places.
GOOD HABITS: mothers others, tries to be neat and tidy, is always optimistic.
WEAKNESSES: doesn't like to think about her past, cannot read or write to any decent level (she's highly dyslexic), tends to be somewhat scatter-brained.
STRENGTHS: she's an extremely good cook, she's always ready to be a shoulder for others to cry on, she's determined to do well in life to make her father proud.
PERSONALITY: Laetatia is, essentially, a cheerful young lady. She's had a pretty rubbish childhood and early teen years but she's learnt to stay positive, if only to drag her father out of his crashing depression. She's hard to get to know, although she seems very open when you first meet her, but once you've made friends with her she's on your side one hundred and ten percent and she'll never let anything hurt you, no matter the cost.
She's severely dyslexic, which naturally impedes her schoolwork and means she is constantly behind. She's not brave enough to explain to teachers who get frustrated with her about her handicap, having had several governnesses when she was younger who used to scream at her constantly for her stupidity. But if teachers are patient and understanding she opens up and blossoms under careful help. Her spelling and punctuation will never be up to much, and this sometimes gets her down, but she perseveres and she's not actually nearly as stupid as her grades would have you believe. She channels most of her intelligence into taking care of her father and staying out of trouble.
She's very private about her past and her home life, but she's such a chatterer and a bubbly personality that often people don't notice that she's keeping secrets. She's easy to be around and good at making people laugh, but that soft exterior hides a core of steel that is not willing to let a single more person she knows get hurt.

Familyhistory
FATHER: Julius Marcas Anglesey - 53 - Ministry worker. Julius is a naturally quiet man who retreated even further into himself after the loss of his son, and then his wife and the child she was pregnant with a couple of years later. He dotes on Laetatia, his one remaining direct family member, and would do anything for her. He's very private about their past and won't tell her anything about her ancestry no matter how much she tries to get it out of him. He's not very verbose and he doesn't know how to tell Laetatia that he doesn't mind about her dyslexia and it doesn't matter to him whether she ever improves, just so long as she's safe and happy.
MOTHER: Anne Eithne Anglesey (nee Aldington) - 50 - deceased. After the loss of her son, Laetatia's brother, Kavanagh, Anne Anglesey never recovered. She loved her family very much but after losing Kavanagh she never had time for Laetatia or Julius, being too wrapped up in her own grief. After a last-ditch attempt to mend her broken heart by having a new baby, Anne died in childbirth with a little boy who would have been Jarlath Aindréas Anglesey. The child died too.
SIBLINGS: Kavanagh Ionatán Anglesey - 11 - kidnapped when Laetatia was six and he was fifteen months, although he is now presumed dead and Laetatia has been told this is irrevocably the truth, and she and her father have both accepted it.
OTHER IMPORTANT FAMILY: Paternal grandparents: Gilroy Breándan Anglesey (88) + Aquilina Callisto Anglesey (nee Syres) (80)
Maternal grandparents: Albert Rupert Aldington (deceased) + Cornelia Helena Aldington (nee Beaufort)
Paternal uncles: Italus Lachtna Anglesey (56), Kaius Roban Anglesey (50)
Paternal aunts: Elizabeth Marie Anglesey (nee Murphy) (54), Layla Cassidy Anglesey (nee Hunter) (48)
Cousins: Niall Torin Anglesey (26), Nevin Seanán Anglesey (23), Muirín Nessa Anglesey (22), Líadan Una Anglesey (19)
Second cousins: Jethro Hunter (24)
HISTORY: Laetatia was born as the first child of Julius and Anne Anglesey, a pureblood couple originally of Italian descent (way, way back). The couple, who were quite old by the time their daughter arrived, doted on her. Her birth was extremely difficult, despite the fact that she was a relatively small baby, since her mother was a very tiny woman herself. The difficulties at her birth are believed to have contributed to Laetatia having dyslexia.
Undiagnosed, Laetatia learned to walk and talk and she was followed when she was four by a new baby brother, Kavanagh. Laetatia adored her brother, spending long nights standing by his cot just watching him sleep and always cuddling up close to her mother to be near him, even when her father tried to distract her with other things. However, when Kavanagh was still a baby he was kidnapped by a man from his nursery. The man somehow got past all the security on the Anglesey manor and stole the child from right under the noses of his watchful family and their staff. Laetatia never understood what happened and eventually her parents had to break it to her that her brother was dead.
At this point Anne Anglesey became almost mad with grief. She barely even realised that she had a daughter left, leaving Laetatia to be brought up by a succession of governesses and her father. These childhood years were Laetatia's worst - the governesses never realised that she had dyslexia, thinking instead that she was just stupid and constantly telling her off and getting frustrated with her and often hitting her for her lack of ability. Her father, lost in indecisiveness as to what to do about his wife and the loss of their son, never intervened and was merely disappointed that his daughter was as stupid as the governesses told him.
Laetatia was saved, to some degree, by the continued friendship of her family to the Hunters, in particular the son, Jethro. Jethro was endlessly patient with her when she was younger, and as he still regularly visits she and her father, she has been hero-worshipping him for years. His mother spends a lot of time with Laetatia's father and Laetatia is very grateful for this since it ensures Jethro's continued presence in her life.
She took another enormous blow when her mother died in childbirth with a baby boy who Anne hoped would help to replace Kavanagh. Unfortunately neither survived and Julius came up to find Laetatia in her playroom to tell her that her mother was dead, and the baby with her. Laetatia cried for three days straight, and took several years to recover. However, in this time she grew much closer to her father and he took her to a specialist about her dyslexia. She was diagnosed and her father spent endless hours practising reading and writing with her.
By the time she went to Hogwarts she was a bubbly, hopeful little girl who was desperate to move forward. She begged the Sorting Hat to put her in Slytherin to please her father, since after the deaths of the rest of her family that's all she's interested in, and she's absolutely ruthless in making sure he's happy. It obviously saw enough in her to do so, and she's very content in Slytherin. She's perfectly atrocious in lessons thanks to her condition, and thanks to her natural inclination to privacy very few of the teachers are aware how severe her dyslexia is and merely think she's not trying. More vituperative tellings-off upset her and she retreats, but she is more than willing to let her friends take revenge for her if they don't get caught.
She's always been a little bit interested in the Dark Arts, partly because they are such a taboo subject but also because a lot of the books in her home's library have pictures of Dark curses in them - just about the only thing she can be bothered to look at in books. She'd like to study them since she hopes - probably irrationally - that she'll find a spell that will cure her dyslexia and let her take revenge on all the governesses who treated her so badly as a child.
