« Journal Entry [1] » 28th August, 2022 Dear Diary,
New school year - well, almost - new diary. Okay, I lost the last one, so it's not such a dramatic new start, but still. Plus, the last one was full of Kaycee-this, Kaycee-that. So hello, and welcome to my life.
Seth took me to the theatre tonight. His dad is directing 'Lady Windermere's Fan' by Oscar Wilde, at the Apollo, in London, so he gets free tickets! It was wonderful, brilliant, fantastic. Our seats weren't the best, but they were free and the performance was fab! There was a lady with an awful hat on sat in front of me though, so I sort of had to lean sideways towards Seth to see half of the stage! It was nice. Going to the theatre, I mean, not leaning towards Seth. But that was nice too.
Something... funny happened in the interval though. Like, odd-funny. But nice. Sort of. I think. We went backstage to try and find his dad - the perks of being a director's son, eh! - but we couldn't, and it was pretty warm, so we stepped out of the stage door to grab a quick breath of fresh air. It was raining, so we had to huddle in the tiny porch. I was leaning against the wall, and Seth sort of was bracing himself on the wall with his arm by my shoulder, so were pretty close, basically. And at one point... oh, I'm being stupid, I know. But at one point I could have sworn he was about to lean in and kiss me. I think I'd have let him. ...And then the door banged open and his dad appeared, someone having told him - very nicely - that we were looking for him.
We jumped apart, and Seth looked completely non-flustered and completely nonchalant, whilst I'm sure I was blushing horrifically. Darn hair. He wouldn't have been so calm if he was about to kiss me, would he? I mean, we were interrupted by his dad. Of course not. I'm being completely stupid - I mean, it's Seth.
But there was a look in his eye, and. No, shut up Rose. Get a grip on yourself. You cannot go around kissing everybody you meet just because Kaycee broke up with you two months ago.
So... back to school in two days - dundunduhh! It'll be good to see everybody except Kaycee. I mean, I love mum and dad, and I'll miss them, but it's nice to go back. Sixth year is going to be amazing, I've decided. Oh, and I'm prefect again!
