Nellie is a bit...eccentric, to say the least. She is the niece of Hogwarts former Headmistress Minerva McGonagall and couldn't differ more from her Aunt.
Nellie likes to go with the "flow," to say the least, but can become a bit quick tempered. She's very intelligent, but her flighty nature seems to out weigh her intelligence. Nellie has a bubbly personality, but a bit of a dark side when it comes to her gift of "seeing"
She can be a bit clumsy.

Children: A daughter who's 23. Name is unknown because she was given up for adoption. Nellie was sexually assaulted at the age of 23 and gave the girl up for adoption after she was born.

Background: She's done a lot in her life; from performing in a travelling circus predicting futures, or her days in Rome studying former great seers.
She is much the opposite of her Aunt, former Hogwarts Headmisstress, Minerva McGonagall. She attended Beauxbatons in France for her schooling, where her mother and father lived. Her father is Victor McGonagall, brother of Minerva McGonagall. Her Mother, deceased Elizabeth Cadiuex, a French half-blood ballet dancer, who was substantially younger than Victor, died when Nellie was fourteen. When her mother passed, Nellie's father--unable to raise a girl of such age alone--sent her to England to live with her Aunt Minerva where she immediately rebelled against the starch rules of her Aunt. (Her mother had been a light-hearted woman and her father was a wand maker who had wanted a son.) She attended her last three years of school at Hogwarts in the Hufflepuff house where she found a best friend in Nymphadora Tonks. Although Tonks was older than her, the girl were thicker than thieves; she and Tonk's mother still remain tightly knit.
After school, she packed her bags, thanked her Aunt for her hospitality, and took off traveling the world. She ventured to Spain first, falling in love with a half-blood wizard who wanted to become a musician. She lived with him for a while, but was left heart broken one day when she'd found him with another woman. Angry and hurt, she took off for Rome where she threw herself into her studies of ancient seers. She'd discovered when she was a child of ten that she'd been blessed with the inner eye after predicting the death of a family member. The family member was her grandmother on her mother's side. Although blessed with the inner eye, she did hate herself for having it. She felt that she'd never fit in because her visions often came on suddenly.
After Rome, she'd taken off to Ireland, looking for a job. She quickly found a job at a Muggle circus where they all thought she was an eccentric con artist; little did they know that she was an actual "fortune teller" as they called her. There, she worked for a few years "telling futures" to anyone who'd listen. One day she received an owl from her Aunt, telling her of her father's death. He'd been killed during the second wizarding war. He was killed in the Summer of 1996, because of his affiliation with a known member of the Order of the Phoenix, his sister.
Distraught, she returned to France to bury her father. Whilst there, the Death Eater who murdered her father returned to kill Nellie as well. He was ordered to kill her to send another message to her Aunt. Instead, he attacked her, raping her and leaving her inches from death. Nellie wished she would've died that night, but instead, she lived. Five weeks, she found out that she was pregnant. At first, she was going to terminate the pregnancy, unable to raise a child; but after talking to her aunt she decided against it and instead gave the girl up for adoption. Her birthday is June 5th; and Nellie knows little about her. She's only ever seen her twice, once at birth and then the second time right before she was given to her new parents.
She didn't fight in the war alongside her Aunt, she stayed in France, attempting to pick up the pieces after her rape. She did testify in the trial against the Death Eater--Augutus Rookwood--who raped her; he was also the same DE to kill Fred Weasley and her father. She mourned not only for her father, after the war, but her bestfriend and everyone else as well.
She resided for the next twenty years, on and off, studying various subjects and continuing to travel.
She'd received an owl from her Aunt in the summer of 2018 to tell her of her soon to be retirement from teaching. Nellie had been in America, visiting an American friend she'd met during her time in Ireland when she'd received the owl. She returned to England the following day. Apologizing to her Aunt about her difficult nature during her teen years. During their conversation, Minerva mentioned that Sybill Trelwany was retiring from Hogwarts soon, and that divination was a subject that she believed on certain people were gifted at. Nellie, knew her Aunt to be a skeptic of divination, but found her Aunt pushing her in the direction of possibly applying for the teaching position.
Hesitant at first, Nellie soon found herself applying for the position.
