It was a very rare occasion that Kaius Anglesey went to Diagon Alley. There had been a time when he had been the most sociable of people, but now that he was older, he found he preferred the quiet life of his country mansion and gardens. Of course, he still liked company, but only the company of select people, and generally his the company of his wife (with occasional visits from others) and his dogs were quite enough for him. In some ways, he had become quite reclusive, although when he was in company, he never had any trouble with making small talk.
However, there were those rare occasions that he made an exception, and this was one of them. It was Christmas, and although it was possible to get a lot by mail order, Kaius felt that that lacked the personal touch. Generally, he came with his wife, but Layella had unfortunately been struck down with a bad cold, so Kaius had escaped her sneezing (after taking her a cup of tea - which he forgot to put sugar in - in bed, and checking that there was nothing else she wanted) in order to come and do his Christmas shopping, and make some small transactions at Gringotts. He had hoped to see Niall there, and perhaps induce him to come to lunch, but there had been no sign of his nephew. He had done a fair amount of shopping, both in Diagon Alley and in Knockturn Alley, arranged for all his purchases to be sent to his house so that he didn't have to carry them, and was now debating whether it was worth paying a visit to any of his other young relatives while he was out and about.
While he thought about it, he had decided to have a drink at the Leaky Cauldron, another unusual thing for him these days, but he was tired and thirsty. He found the place, as usual, filled with riff raff, so he pointedly ignored them, aside from the girl at the bar, from whom he ordered a cup of Earl Grey, and then retired to a corner seat. He took out his newspaper, thanked the girl graciously when she brought his tea, and opened the newspaper, holding in front of his face so that to all appearances he was paying no attention at all to anything around him. In fact, he could see quite a lot, and was perfectly capable of reading his paper and watching other people at the same time. It paid to watch other people when you could; you never knew who you might see or what you might learn, and for all his vague ways, there wasn't a lot Kaius missed.

ooc - He may look antisocial, but this is seriously open to anyone! I've decided that Kaius needs to rp with a few more people, so it can be someone he knows if you want, or just someone random with nowhere else to sit...
