ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:
It was hard to believe that had only been hours ago. It felt like days to Thayne, but that was probably because he was trying so hard not to let the gentle rocking of the compartment lull him to sleep. He stared out of the window, trying to listen to the excited babble of the other students in his compartment, but the voices just blended together the more he tried to force them apart. He silently chided himself for his struggle; it had only been one night without sleep this time. His record was almost three and a half.
Still, the world around him was becoming less stable. Even the cold window was warming to his touch. It grew warmer… and thinner… and then there was no window. Thayne turned to alert the other kids, but they had all gone. He was alone only a moment before something large and dark perched on the wall of the compartment where the window had been. Thayne slowly looked up at the mass of feathers, quailing under the regal gaze of the raven. It opened its beak to call out…
“OY! Hey kid! Wake up!”
Thayne’s eyes snapped open and he was met with a wave of sick anxiety in his stomach as he came around. It must have showed on his face, because the blonde girl addressing him quickly withdrew, wrinkling her nose at his expression.
“Sor-ry. Just wanted to tell you we’re here.”
Thayne tried to smile, but was still too unsettled to manage more than a grimace. He looked to the window once more, half-expecting a raven to burst through and shatter the glass. Instead, for the first time, he saw Hogwarts Castle perched high above the lake. He barely noticed the castle, however, as his eyes were on the lake itself, which could barely be seen through rolling clouds of…
“Fog,” Thayne muttered weakly to himself. Did there have to be so much fog?
