As Rosa Rodriguez entered the Leaky Cauldron, with a small devil-may-care grin on her lips she didn't miss the double-glances that were sent her way. Of course, she had dressed to impress when she decided to leave her apartment this evening and she looked the very epitome of sex in her little black dress that clung to every curve of her body and left very little to the imagination.
Sauntering over to the bar in her high heels, she observed her surroundings for her newest pray and that's when her gaze fell on what looked like a rather gorgeous woman from the back. Sitting one seat away from the woman, she placed her drink order - "A vodka tonic" - to the barman before she leaned over. "Love your dress," she complimented, not nearly as forward as she usually was. But eventually building up to it. Hopefully.
((OOC: So shit, sorry!))

Evelyn Devereux was sat towards the back of the Leaky Cauldron, one slim leg crossed over the other, thoroughly engrossed in her newest book which she had purchased only a couple of hours beforehand in Muggle London. She generally considered the Leaky Cauldron far too a common place for her to spend time in but she'd needed a drink and any bar would do for her at that moment in time, and so she'd sauntered towards the back, where she'd felt she would be least disturbed, and had found it quite peaceful indeed, much to her surprise, sipping a martini and flicking through the book, which had quite an impressive plot and characters to die for. Because of this, she was barely paying any attention to her surroundings, which was unsual for Evelyn, because she generally enjoyed people-watching, as unsettling as the people that she ended up watching found it. She noted, of course, someone sitting but one seat away from her by hearing the scraping of the chair against the tiled floor and the click of the person's heels, but the person in question didn't really register until they leaned over and complimented her on her dress. Tearing her gaze away from her book, Evelyn raised her head to look at the woman who had leaned over. A very pretty woman indeed - although pretty was something of an understatement. No, the woman pratically oozed sex appeal. The dress she was wearing could almost be considered indecent, Evelyn noticed with a small flick of her eyes as she gave her a once-over, before deciding that the girl was around the same age as her. As she decided this, she simultaneously decided that she definitely wasn't interesting enough to invest time in. Evelyn was never one who felt flattered or thankful for compliments, because she was so aware of her own good looks, taste and charm, and so she merely nodded, a very slight nod, coupled with a very slight smile, and an air about her that clearly suggested she did not consider the remark worth a reply. With this, she returned to her book, assuming that the girl would be offended, as people always were, and leave her alone. That would suit Evelyn just fine. __________________________________ ooc. - oh god i'm sorry she's such an asshole. she just thinks she's better than everyone else! outfit

Rosa knew that most people would take the incredibly obvious snub of the woman to heart but in all her years at Hogwarts and nearly two years out of it, Rosa was nothing but persistent and simply ignoring what she'd said only made her even more determined to get to know the woman. With a saccharine smile on her lips, she cleared her throat and leaned forward yet again. "Really though. I mean, it's just incredible." Slowly, and definitely making sure the woman couldn't miss it, she gave a once-over of the brunette before she stood up, dress riding almost indecently up her legs and sat directly opposite her. She glanced at the book the woman was reading before she started talking, "Good book, isn't it? Personally though, not my favourite."
As the bartender placed her drink it front of her, she sent him a quick 'thanks' before returning her attention back to Evelyn, arching her eyebrows as she anticipated her reply. Honestly, she would be surprised if the woman didn't directly address her now. Most people didn't have the nerve to ignore someone who was brave enough to actually initiate conversation in the first place. Even if Rosa didn't get a half-decent shag out of this - which she suspected she probably would because even the posh ones turned out to be alright in bed - it would be interesting to get at least a rise out of the other woman. "Care to tell me your name?"

Evelyn did not exactly anticipate the woman to continue speaking to her, but continue speaking to her she did, which caused Evelyn's eyebrow to quirk ever-so-slightly. Evelyn had gotten terribly used to communicating without using any words at all, and terribly talented at it due to the many years in which she only ever properly spoke to view people. If the woman was anyone else, or proved to Evelyn that she was even in the slightest jot interesting or worth it, Evelyn would have probably started speaking to her, albeit a tad sparingly, but when she stood up Evelyn noted how her dress rode up her thighs and how obvious the woman was about checking someone out and had immediately classed her as common. Evelyn didn't return to her book, however, instead opting to scrutinize the girl, a hint of a smile appearing on her face when her dress was complimented again, although the smile turned into the pursing of her lips when the girl claimed the chair opposite her. She was a tad surprised that the girl had read the book she was reading, but it didn't show on her features, and she merely gave the slightest of shrugs.
Evelyn knew that she was being ridiculously rude but she simply could not bring herself to swoon under attention and flattery, the way most girls did. It was sort of pathetic, really - a couple of chat-up lines and a charming smile and most girls her age would be ready to be the next in line. Even if they attempted to play hard-to-get, it was all just stalling, whereas with Evelyn her playing hard-to-get was not an invitation to win her over; it was a warning that she would never be had by the person in question. She didn't expect people to get it immediately, because they were so used to the usual type of girl (all girls were the same, really, Evelyn decided, just as boys were - there were very few extraordinary at the end of the day) but she generally managed to steer people in the right direction with her complete lack of verbal interaction.
"Excuse me," Evelyn murmured, laying her hand on the bartender's arm to stop him in his tracks, as he'd been heading back to the bar. "Another one of these - " she pushed her empty glass towards him, " - and you serve food here, don't you?" She questioned him expectantly, with the obvious air of one who would not be satisfied if there was no food available. When the bartender said that yes, there was barfood, and hastily began to reel off the specials, Evelyn swiftly cut him off, saying, "Give me your biggest dish. I don't care what it is, just make sure that's it's high quality. And make sure that the cutlery's clean," Evelyn added, expression full of distaste, as she'd had food in other bars before and sometimes you could come across cutlery that wasn't absolutely sparkling, which irritated her. When the bartender, cautiously, told her that their largest dish was a beef burger, complete with a portion of chips and a side-salad, Evelyn had already turned away from him, saying airily, "Yes, yes, that'll be fine," before waving him away.
Evelyn refocused her attention on the woman across from her, having been ignoring her all throughout her encounter with the bartender, who had walked off with a rather sullen look on his face at having been treated so poorly. It was as though people expected pretty women to be nice, Evelyn thought amusedly. When the lady across from her asked her her name, Evelyn seemed to consider it, before responding, lightly, "No, I don't."

As the woman opposite her continued to ignore her pretty much entirely, Rosa was half-tempted to call it quits - not because she was eager to give up so quickly, of course not, but because it was blatantly obvious this woman thought she was so much better than Rosa was. However, Rosa made up her mind quite early in her train of thought to not budge from her seat even if it killed her. Mainly because she wasn't going to just let some snooty rich girl just believe they were superior to her. She'd been on the receiving end of that line of thought too many times in the past and to be completely honest, it barely even phased her nowadays. Being the victim of cruel gossip during her time at Hogwarts tended to harden her up quite a bit and she wasn't going to leave the table, crying, just because somebody wasn't going to talk to her.
During the entire exchange the other woman had just had with the bartender, she inspected her nails in quite a bored manner. Unfortunately, they didn't allow her to grow them out quite as much as she had them before she'd begun training as an Auror which was a shame. She had plenty fond memories of leaving scratch lines down the strong planes of Kieran's back, however, to last her a long time and thankfully she could still scratch the hell out of him if she wanted to. It just took a lot more effort now.
Letting out a not-so-surprised laugh when the woman refused to give her her name, she shrugged. "Okay, whatever," she said dismissively. "I'll introduce myself first then. I'm Rosa RodrÃguez, I'm nineteen years old and I'm training to be an Auror. I don't have a boyfriend or a girlfriend, just like I'm sure you don't, and I'm not looking for one at the moment because relationships are a waste of time and more often than not, not worth it... and, quite frankly, I can go on and on and on about myself to fill whatever silence encompasses it because I am a fantastic talker and I can make conversation for the both of us."

Evelyn took a moment to absorb the information given to her about the woman - Rosa - sitting across from her. Although it was information she didn't particularly want, or need, she took care to store it for future reference, her sharp eyes taking in everything about the woman from her undeniable good looks to the dress she was wearing - which very obviously displayed the fact that she had no qualms about showing off her body - to her entire demeanour, which was confident and a tad brash and yes, Evelyn would admit it, even a bit refreshing in a woman. It seemed to be a notion of most people's that men were always the ones that were to make the first move and so Evelyn appreciated that aspect of Rosa quite a lot, even though she stuck by her first impression of her - common.
"Ah," Evelyn said, not sounding surprised at all, and there was, in fact, an undertone of amusement in her voice that one did not have to strain to catch. "You're another person who thinks that relationships are a waste of time. How dreadfully boring." Evelyn found it almost alarming the amount of people, these days, that seemed to think they were original by claiming that they had no time for relationships and that they only ended in bloodshed. In Evelyn's opinion, they were all scared - too scared to take a leap and fall in love because of their own pride. In fact, Evelyn found most people shockingly cowardly these days, and when people started off conversations by saying they "didn't do relationships" she almost always lost interest. The fact that Rosa was an auror-in-training, however, was unusual, and so although her interest was slipping slightly, she found herself intrigued enough to continue with it.
"Why are you training to be an auror?" Evelyn asked her. Had anyone else asked the question, it would've seemed merely polite, or a manner in which to break the ice, but Evelyn asked it as though she was carrying out a job interview. The question sounded as though it had quite a lot of gravity indeed, and that it called for an insightful answer, although at the same time she sounded quite detached from the entire encounter.

Rosa didn't miss the tone of voice that basically screamed 'you're just silly' from Evelyn and she shifted so she was more comfortable in her seat with the bartender finally bringing over her drink. "Thanks," she told him with a hand on his arm and a flirty smile. If things went her way, she'd knock off a knut or two for the drink which helped a lot in the long run. She stirred her drink with the straw for a moment before taking a sip, simply looking at Evelyn squarely before she placed it down gently on the table.
"And let me guess... you're not?" she said, giving Evelyn yet again another sweet smile. "To be honest, I don't really care if you think that me not liking relationships is 'dreadfully boring'. I have my reasons." Very good ones in her mind, at least. She didn't think that relationships were worth her time because she wasn't looking for love or to be tied down so young to one person. She preferred going out and sleeping with a few choice people without having to worry about being screwed over in the long run which would happen inevitably. It always did.
"Because it's what I want to do later in life," she answered swiftly, "and helping rid the world of dark wizard and witches is something that's a good cause or some bullshit. I don't know - I like it. And I particularly like my mentor because she's smokin' hot."

Evelyn considered Rosa's question for a moment. It wasn't as though Evelyn actively went searching for love, nor was she often in relationships, but she had been in a few relationships in all her years and, with the exception of Klaus, the cheater, none of them had gone terribly, or discouraged her from finding love in the future. Her lip did curl slightly at the thought of the word 'love', however. But she didn't think that all relationships were a waste of time - some of them ended in heartache and some of them never ended at all but none of them were a waste.
"No. I'm not," she agreed, inclining her head slightly. "Not if they make people happy. And that's the point of a relationship, after all. Finding someone you're happy with. Even if it takes a while." Evelyn could almost feel her ears perking up when Rosa admitted that she had her own reasons for not being a believer in relationships and she straightened up slightly, looking the girl over more keenly that she had previously. "What reasons?" She asked, sounding, for the first time in the conversation, quite interested in the answer although she knew that her question was terrifically rude.
"I was told to be an auror, but I decided against it," Evelyn told her companion, offering proper information about herself finally although her tone was still quite detached and cold. "You must have gotten good grades to be able to train," Evelyn noted, looking over Rosa with a slight glint of approval in her eyes. "Are people ever surprised that you're an auror?" Evelyn asked, taking a sip of her own drink. "I was," she confessed, which was absolutely true. The girl had seemed so forward and flirty that Evelyn had dismissed her as a bit of a bimbo immediately, which was unlike Evelyn as usually her first impression of a person was quite accurate.

"I suppose that if I found someone I think I could be happy with maybe I'd be more open to the idea of having a relationship..." Rosa told her with a small shrug before she look at Evelyn simply with her eyebrows arched. Because if she expected to get that out of Rosa within ten minutes of meeting her, she had to be delusional or stupid. "You'll have to get to know me better if you want to know that. Starting off with your name. I don't make it a habit to share secrets with people I don't know."
"So what do you do now then? You seem like someone who'd be involved with law. Like one of those ruthless Wizengamot bitches... but I haven't ran into you before and we're pretty friendly with that whole department," she said, studying Evelyn pretty closely. "But if you're not a part of Wizengamot, you'd have to do something where you earn a lot of money or you come from a rich family, one that doesn't mind letting their daughter spend a lot of money on clothes... that dress and those shoes aren't cheap. You can sense the galleons miles away."
As Evelyn posed her question, Rosa begun to look greatly amused "I got O's and E's in every one of my classes at Hogwarts... and I had to pass a series of character and aptitude tests... getting into the program to begin with is hard and a lot of people drop out within the first couple of weeks. But people are always surprised when I tell them I'm training to be an auror. They seem to think that just because I like to have sex and I hit on people a lot that it automatically means I'm stupid, which I'm not. It just means that, well, I like sex and having fun."

"Well, you won't find someone you'll ever be potentially happy with if you close yourself off to the idea of a relationship," Evelyn responded promptly, wanting to make her point very clear indeed. "If you close yourself off from it then you could miss the love of your life. Or something to that effect," Evelyn was not quite the romantic, idealistic sort, but she was not the exact opposite, either, although it was slightly hypocritical of her to preach to this woman - Rosa - about being open to people and relationships as Evelyn could be so emotionally detached sometimes it was almost alarming. Evelyn smiled slightly when Rosa refused to answer her question, although she was disappointed - it was a long shot, of course, anyone spilling their deepest secrets on a first encounter, but Evelyn had sort of hoped, a tad naively, that there would be something juicy revealed. Finally relenting, she held out her hand to shake the woman's, saying as she did so, "Evelyn. Evelyn Devereux."
Before she could respond to Rosa's next question the waiter reappeared with the food Evelyn had ordered, setting the dish and the drink in front of her as quickly and efficiently as possible, obviously not wanting to hang around lest she demanded something else of him, murmuring a hasty, "There you go, miss." Evelyn nodded her thanks to the waiter and he sped off. "Law," Evelyn repeated, attention back on Rosa, the faintest note of disgust in her voice. "I was encouraged down that track," she said, busying herself with cutlery and spearing one of her chips with her fork (Evelyn, quite frankly, detested when people assumed that a girl like she couldn't possess an enormous appetite), "But law," she said the word again, nose wrinkling slightly. Law sounded tragically boring to a girl like Evelyn - although almost everything sounded tragically boring to a girl like Evelyn. It was really rather difficult to entertain her. "I don't earn a lot of money," Evelyn said in response to Rosa's next statement, which she considered a satisfactory answer. It was true that she dressed very extravagantly at all times and that her attire was incredibly expensive, and mostly paid for by her father, because being an actress on stage was hardly the sort of job that left you rolling in galleons. She elaborated no further, because Rosa had hit the nail on the end and Evelyn saw no need to elaborate because of that.
Because Evelyn herself had also recieved O's throughout her entire school career, she was not very much impressed by Rosa's good grades, because she thought that almost any moron could get high grades in school if they really wanted to, and so it was a slightly sarcastically tinged, "Well done," that Evelyn presented Rosa with, one eyebrow arched. Passing character and aptitude tests was slightly impressive, however, Evelyn would admit, wondering for a brief moment what life would be like if she herself had decided to be an auror, or any other Ministry Official, or a school Professor. These thoughts vanished in an instant, though, because those jobs sounded so incredibly mundane and full of nothingness, the sort of jobs that would make her so bored that she'd feel like exploding every single day. If Evelyn had started any of those jobs, she would probably be utterly fantastic at them, but also infuriate some of her superiors and charm some of the others and refuse to work properly with her co-workers and eventually just go off to Paris or Italy or Australia or absolutely anywhere else on a whim and probably get fired.
"I'm an actress," Evelyn revealed. "A very good one, as a matter of fact." Probably one of the best, at least in Evelyn's opinion, but she didn't need to say that aloud; her tone suggested that she thought she was far better than "very good".

"Then I guess that blows for me. I don't see why you care... actually, scratch that. I know you don't care - I just don't see why you're so insistent about this," Rosa replied, not looking ticked off in the least - on the contrary, she looked quite at ease. She'd had to deal with her mother forcing the idea of relationships upon her for years and with her mother, you had to have a certain amount of patience with her traditionalist, 'you're just going through a phase' attitude. Somewhat surprised by the fact that the other woman, Evelyn, had actually relented and given out her name, she reached out to shake her hand. "Nice to meet you, Evelyn. Are you part-French?"
She simply stared at the woman across from her for a moment before a small laugh escaped her because it obviously wasn't just her that Evelyn seemed to dislike. In fact, she had an inkling that Evelyn hated or at least disliked a lot of things which was fairly common of people who were rich and thought they were superior for the fact they were born into a lot of money. Evelyn's reply that she didn't earn a lot of money pretty much cemented her view and for a brief moment, satisfaction settled over Rosa because Evelyn may have thought she was truly amazing but she wasn't independent. Not with the clothes she was wearing or her flawlessly done make-up and hair. Rosa suspected a lot of that was thanks to her daddy's money coming straight from his pocket or an incredibly good inheritance.
At Evelyn's tone, Rosa shot it back as she responded with a quick, "Thanks." As Evelyn shared her occupation, it took most of Rosa's self-control not to start laughing because an actress? That's what Evelyn thought made her job so much better than hers? A hint of a smirk curled at Rosa's lips. "Anything I would have seen you in then?"
