Roxanne sat idly, staring out the window, cup of tea in hand. She'd sent her mum home about an hour ago, and everyone else had seemed to disappear. Not that she minded either. It'd been a bit since she'd gotten to be alone with her own thoughts. Her mind was still swirling and every now and then she felt like screaming.
Sure seeing that Scorpius was okay, for the most part, made her feel better, but she was still so angry with him. So angry. His drinking had gone exactly where she knew it would, and her mind was slowly deducing that perhaps her boyfriend had a drinking problem.
This thought dealt her a hard pressed feeling and her brows sank together. She sighed heavily and turned away from the window. She'd have to go home soon for a shower and clean clothes. So wrapped up in her own mind Roxanne didn't notice that someone else had entered the room.

Ricky didn't even know what was going on or what had happened, but she had deduced from Roxie's letters that something had happened to Scorpius Malfoy and that Roxanne was at the hospital on her own, apart from a bunch of Malfoys. Ricky had got to the point where she actually quite liked Scorpius, but that was beside the point; the point was that Roxie was in a mess, and Roxie was like her sister. Stopping only to push her hair up into a clip and whip some mascara and lipgloss on, she had yelled to her mum that she was going to meet Rox, grabbed her wand, and Apparated to the hospital.
Ricky knew her way round St Mungo's, and she also knew a large number of the staff, thanks to her long spell of illness, so it only took a few questions for her to be told that Malfoy was on the Second Floor, but that Roxanne Weasley had been seen heading for the tea shop. Ricky marched to the lifts, got in the first one that arrived, and was soon stepping out onto the Fifth Floor. The place wasn't very full, and she spotted Roxanne almost immediately and made a beeline for her.
For once, she didn't bother with an inappropriate greeting, but instead dropped straight into the chair opposite her friend, scanning her quickly and seeing that she was indeed a complete mess.
"Okay. What the fuck happened?" she demanded, without a single preamble, "Is he okay? How long have you been here?"

The tea was bitter and in need of a few spoons of sugar, Roxanne noted as she sipped it. Perhaps someone had let it steep too long, or had used too many bags; whatever had happened, the tea had become the victim. She wrinkled her nose, and moved to set the tea down. Once it was firmly in place, Roxanne turned in her chair, bringing her knees to her chest and rested her chin on them. She'd returned her gaze back to the window when suddenly she wasn't alone, Ricky had appeared.
"What are you doing here?" asked Roxanne, oblivious to Ricky's questions. Tired and worn doen, Roxanne hadn't been paying attention to much. Perhaps that was why the tea tasted as bad as it currently did. "When did you even get here?" The look of utter confusion on Roxanne's face spoke volumes; tiredness, worry, tears, and anger encassed her face, aging her as she sighed. It wasnt that she wasnt happy to see Ricky, but her mind was wrapped tightly in other things.

"I'm talking to you," Ricky replied promptly, "And I got here about five minutes ago. I wasn't leaving you all by yourself here... " she reached over the table to grab Roxie's hand and squeeze it hard, "But Rox, seriously, what's going on? Malfoy... Scorpius... is he okay?" There was genuine alarm in her voice as she spoke. She thought that Roxie's demeanor would be different if Scorpius was actually in immediate danger of dying, but still - it must be pretty serious...
She went on searching her friend's face carefully. She wasn't bothered that Roxanne wasn't all that enthusiastic to see her - she didn't need that; there were obviously more important things on hand. She glanced at Roxie's cup, pulling a face as she saw the usual bitter hospital brew. She should have brought coffee or something, that would have been sensible.
"When did you last have something to eat?" she demanded. The tea was bad, but the cakes here were ok most of the time, though the sandwiches tended to be dry. And if she had to hijack the coffee machine and make some decent stuff herself, she would do...

Ricky's hand reached out and clamped down on Roxanne's and Roxanne looked up, her attention still split as she actually realised that someone was with her. Her brain was running backwards, in all honesty. She'd been up for hours, the tea was crap, and she could feel her stomach quake from lack of food. But none of these things did Roxanne think Ricky should be concerned with. She, Ricky, should have been flying high on cloud nine and looking for more unsuspecting victims to shag now that she no longer was a virgin. A pang of guilt hit Roxanne once more, hating the fact that she'd ruined Ricky's high.
"I was just fine," Roxanne replied, her tone level as she attempted to hide her worry and fatigue. Her eyes were itching and beginning to water. "And he's - he's an idiot," she snapped harsher than she'd originally intended to, but she was really beginning to consider the idea that Scorpius was possibly an alcoholic - or at least had a drinking problem. Unlike the malfoy family had been taught, too, Roxanne wasn't great at hiding things from family or friends. She didn't want to say anything, however, to Ricky about it though because she didn't want Scorpius mad. At the same time, however, she didn't care if he was mad. He'd been the one stupid enough to hurt himself.
Roxanne pulled at the wrist cuffs of her cable knit jumper, then began to been her fists into her thighs - it was a nervous habit she had. "I ate earlier - I think," Roxanne lied easily, uncertain what to really say or do. People had been watching her constantly and she didn't know how to respond any more.

"No you're not," Ricky corrected her friend in tones that suggested that there was no room for argument. Most of the time, Ricky took nothing seriously, but in a crisis, she could be very serious indeed - if still a bit overly blunt. Right now, she was very definitely worried, and Roxanne still wasn't telling her what had happened. "You're not fine," she repeated, "And I'm not leaving, so there's no point trying to make me."
"Well, I already knew that," she went on, raising her eyebrows at Roxanne's tone, "He's dating a Weasley girl, after all. But unless your dad finally lost it and beat him up, I wasn't expecting that to land him in St Mungo's..." It wasn't quite a question - she wanted to know, but if Roxie didn't want to tell her, well fair enough. Ricky was here to be there for her friend, not to be a nosy observer of whatever had happened to Scorpius Malfoy. And she didn't really imagine that George Weasley had anything to do with it.
Her eyebrows rose further at Roxie's vague answer to her question. "You think? Well, if you can't remember, it was too long ago..." Ricky stood up and walked briskly over to the counter, where there was nobody around. After standing impatiently for a few moments, she walked round to the other side of it, and began to prepare two coffees herself - after so long working for her mum, she considered herself something of an expert at making hot drinks of all sorts, and prided herself on her coffee. While waiting for it, she removed two pastries from the glass cabinet, prodded them disapprovingly, muttered a couple of spells and watched happily as they heated up and lost their dryness. You couldn't make food by magic, but you could definitely improve it. She dropped the appropriate change onto the counter, piled it all on a tray and carried it over to the table, putting it firmly down in front of Roxanne.
"Eat and drink," she commanded her friend, sitting back down, "You're not going to help him by making yourself ill..."

"Yes, yes, I am. Just. Fine," Roxanne maintained, ignoring the expression of concern and worry on Ricky's face. Roxanne knew Ricky meant well, and truthfully she was grateful to see Ricky, but . . . but Roxanne wanted to be left alone to her thoughts. Even if her friend was a welcome distracted. " and I know you're not going anywhere. You do what you want," at this statement Roxanne let a small smile slip through, though only for a brief moment. It immediately vanished seconds later.
"Fuck you," Roxanne replied indifferently, a teasing tone creeped in slyly. "Weasley women are perfectly sane. Granted we're a tad difficult, but we're worth it!" Her eyes flickered from the window to the table, then to Ricky's face. Roxanne searched the familiar eyes of her bestfriend's face, wondering if she could tell Ricky all her fears. The two girls had been friends since diapers, granted they'd had their arguments and tiffs, but they had always been close. She ignored Ricky's words about her father and sighed, contemplating the ghost weighing heavy in her heart. A sigh sauntered from her lips and Roxanne spoke, "I think Scor- I think he's - he has a drinking problem, Ricky," her tones were hushed, secretive; her eyes pleading for her friend's sole discretion.
By the time Roxanne's words left her lips, Ricky had already gone about busying herself with finding food and what not. she didn't say it, but Roxanne was very thankful. She just hoped Ricky knew. "I told you I wasn't hungry..." Roxanne responded, though she took the coffee happily.

Ricky had ignored all of Roxanne's words until she returned with the food and coffee, and then began to address them.
"Roxie..." she began warningly, rolling her eyes, "Look, you don't want to tell me what's happened then don't. You don't want to talk about it, we'll talk about something else - I have plenty of other topics of conversation. But don't lie to me, okay? You think I don't know when you're not okay?"
"And Weasley women are all fucking insane," she went on, with a smile, "It's why I love you all... You balance out my complete sanity," she said, straight faced, then leaned forwards, flipping between joking and totally serious in the way that only Ricky could, "Seriously though? What d'you mean, a drinking problem?" she asked, bypassing any kind of shocked reaction and going straight for the practical facts. She shoved the plate towards her friend. "I don't care if you're hungry or not. You need to eat..."
She kept her voice calm and firm and practical throughout, hiding her own worry and dismay. She needed to help Roxie pull herself together, and she couldn't do that if she started panicking herself. But Merlin, what had even happened to Malfoy? A drinking problem? What did that mean? Most teenagers drank... did Malfoy drink more than the rest of them? And how had that ended him in St Mungo's? Ricky's mind was reeling, but she had to focus on Roxanne...

Roxanne's hands grasped the mug in hand tightly, sighing as she did so. She could hear Ricky's words, but her mind was running at warp speed. She didn't quite know what to do - in regards to anything, really. And Ricky's words, they were more than valid. Of course ricky would know when she wasn't okay, but that didn't mean that she wanted to say them out loud. If anyone knew anything about roxanne, they knew her pension for running whenever she didn't want to deal with something.
"I'm not okay, there - I said it. Happy?" she asked, dropping her legs to the floor and letting her cup go. She stood up and walked over to the window to peer out of it. "And what happened is rather simple - my boyfriend flew his broom into a tree - or wall - something, He can't even remember, whilst shitfaced. Wonderful, huh?" her question was rhetorical, of course, and there was ever a hint of contempt in her voice.
A small grin cracked once more at Ricky's insanity comment and Roxanne shook her head. "Sanity? Right, I think my mum would beg to differ. I'm the sane one of us two, which says a lot," she laughed, the laugh and smile both ending abruptly when Roxanne's fear slipped back into conversation. "You know, a drink problem - as in an alcoholic has a drinking issue. . . " her words trailed off and she closed her eyes, inwardly angry at herself for saying so much. "Ricky - you can't say anything to anyone, please - I don't want Scorpius mad at me . . . " Roxanne walked back toward the table, a look of contemplation on her face as Ricky slid a plate of food towards her. Ruefully she took a pastry, but didn't bite from it. She did so more to placate ricky, if anything.

"No, not really," Ricky replied simply, to the question of whether she was happy or not, "I'm not exactly going to be happy you're not okay, am I? Even if I already knew you weren't okay, because it's bloody obvious - you look terrible," she said, with her usual bluntness. However, for once she fell silent as Roxie spoke, taking in her words and processing them. Malfoy had flown into a tree whilst drunk. If he hadn't apparently been seriously hurt, it would have been funny (and given that he was actually going to be okay, she almost wanted to laugh anyway, but even Ricky had enough tact not to show that).
"Well... you're right, he's an idiot," she said at last, in quite mild tones. It didn't shock her - she was dismayed to hear what had happened, and very glad that he had survived it, but at the end of the day, she knew she'd been drunk enough to do stupid things before, and it was probably just luck that she'd never ended up hurting herself through it... So it would have seemed a bit mean to judge Scorpius, just because he hadn't been that lucky, and she thought her friend was making a bit of a big deal out of a drunk mistake. Of course, it was a big deal that he'd nearly died, but all's well that ends well and all that... "He's going to be okay though, right?" she probed, just to make sure that everything was ending well...
She was relieved to see the small smile appear on Roxie's face, even if briefly.
"Hey, your mum adores me!" she asserted, "I bet she'd agree that I'm saner than you," she shook her head, trying to take in what her friend was saying. A stupid drunk incident was a stupid drunk incident, but an actual drinking problem was different... He couldn't have one, could he? Roxie must be overreacting... "You think he's an alcoholic...?" she said slowly, the idea seeming weird even as she said it. Was a drinking problem the same as being an alcoholic? Scorpius didn't seem like an alcoholic, he didn't act like one... or at least as Ricky had always imagined one, since she'd never actually met one. It was too extreme a word, surely... For once, she couldn't think of much to say, but blinked as Roxie continued to speak. "Course I won't say anything," she assured her friend, "But Rox... why d'you think he's got a problem? Just because he got trashed and smashed his broom? Because I've been that drunk plenty of times, it doesn't make me an alcoholic..." Her voice wasn't dismissive so much as confused...
