[rs=2] | Anna Cadence De Luca is the middle sibling in the De Luca family, younger than Stefano, but older than Christopher. She was born six years after her older brother, so there's a nice gap between them but not one to make them unfamiliar with one another. Chris, on the other hand, is only a year younger. Anna loves both of her brothers, though her relationship with Stefano is a lot stronger and closer. She and Chris fight like the typical brother and sister duo, but if anyone were to hurt her brother or threaten him in anyway, she'd be right there beside him, ready to kick some ass. You could say she's devoted to her brothers. Since Anna and Chris are only a year apart, that meant she was quite young and still only a baby herself when all attention suddenly turned to Chris. Of course, she doesn't remember that, but she knows that Stefano would always give her extra attention. (As if the photos aren't evidence enough.) Growing up, however, Anna often sought out their eldest brother, Federico. Maybe it was because he was older and she thought that he knew more - which he probably did. Unfortunately, Anna doesn't have many memories of her brother. He was killed in a car accident when she was six years old. Anna can't recall much of that time. The only thing she remembers is wondering why Mummy was crying and why Stefano was bringing her tea... and wondering why Daddy was crying, too. She had never hadn't ever seen her father cry before. For such a young child, it was difficult to grasp her own emotions and understand them. She had nightmares in the months following Federico's death. Nightmares about dying and other depressing things of that nature. Soon enough, she hated the dark and wanted nothing to do with sleeping. So, instead, Anna turned to books. Make believe lands and knights in shining armor were better than what she was currently experiencing. They were a very good escape for Anna. Not only that, but they helped her in several ways. They helped her to cry, to laugh, to love, to smile, to problem solve, to think on her feet, to always stay curious... and they also taught her how to feel, how to get through difficult times and how to be supportive. Anna devoured the words in any book that she picked up. When she got her hands on a book, she couldn't put it down. Often, in primary school, she would get in trouble for reading when she was supposed to be working on her maths or history studies. After Federico died, Stefano changed. Being so young, Anna couldn't pinpoint exactly what was different about her brother, but it seemed as if he were trying to please their parents, be the perfect child. (That's what she would say now.) Anna changed as well. She didn't want her parents to cry over her, she didn't want them to notice her. She still can't explain why she felt this way; she reckons that maybe her parents were disappointed in Federico and she didn't want them to feel that way if she died young, too. So, in her young mind, Anna thought that if she minimized her own existence, her parents couldn't ever be disappointed in her. She was always careful to never get into trouble. Her books kept her occupied enough. Words were a catharsis for the young girl, when she couldn't find her own ways to express herself. By the time she reached Hogwarts age, she had read the entire Britannica Encyclopedia collection. It wasn't a surprise when Anna was sorted into Ravenclaw. She was pleased with herself and looked forward to her new "home" for the next seven years. Right off the bat, Anna fit in well. Probably because she more or less blended in. She didn't do or say anything spectacular that would have made her stick out. Even in class, she was just the average student. Of course, she read faster (and more) than the rest of her classmates, but that was about it. Anna didn't mind; she liked being less noticed. And all of this is not to say she didn't make friends. She did make friends. Not many, but a few close friends was all she needed. Nothing extraordinary happened in her first few years. Except when she entered third year. The beginning of the year was much the same as the rest. But she was partners with a boy in Potions and they've been best friends ever since. He introduced her to a lot of things. In a way, he brought her out of her shell (not that she was ever in one; her personality just happens to be quiet and laid back.) Around this time, things inside of Anna began to change. As in, her feelings. She started to have difficult concentrating on her schoolwork and her moods varied as well. She wasn't depressed; she doesn't know what she was. But it wasn't normal. Anna smoked her first joint with her best friend and found that it helped make her feel... normal. She didn't feel high at all. Since then, Anna has continued to smoke weed. She's not a pothead at all, but something in the drug levels her emotions. She can go a maximum of three days without smoking and she's alright. But towards the end of the third day, she starts to get a little edgy. Anna doesn't always like to smoke, so she researched how to put marijuana into pill form and she often takes it that. (These days, she's thinking that she needs to find a different way to level her emotions. She's an adult. It's time to act like one. And adults shouldn't smoke weed.) Anna's fourth year was another exciting year. She lost her virginity to a boy in her year, at the beginning of the school year. It wasn't a big deal; she's more or less detached from herself. In fact, Anna enjoyed exploring her sexuality. She still does to this very day. She and her best friend have never had any feelings towards each other, so it's easy for them to talk about relationships and sex and all of that good stuff. She couldn't imagine herself getting together with him, either. She loves him, but not like that. And, speaking of relationships, Anna doesn't do them. They're too much work. There's too much emotionally invested in them. Anna still had trouble to this day handling her emotions. Because of this, she comes across has very sarcastic and dry. She pretends to be uninterested or bored when someone is telling a story. Truly, she's not; it's just how she comes across. She's quite funny when you get to know her. Unless she trusts you, however, Anna is closed off. The two people she's most open with are Stef and Chris - Stef more. She's very closed off to her parents; sometimes, she's even nervous around them. OWLs came and passed. Anna did very well on them. She may not apply herself in class much, but when it matters, she makes sure she;s on top of her game. (Which is why, at the end of the year, she has excellent grades.) This year, Anna is just cruising along until it's time to sit her NEWTs. She doesn't know what she's going to do with her life once she's graduated. She's hoping that this year she'll figure something out. However, with her laid back nature, she's not too worried about it. She'll figure out her life in time. |
