I do apologise for writing to you at work, but I'm afraid I know of no other address for you. Allow me to introduce myself; My name is Kaius Anglesey, and I believe that you are aquainted with both my daughter and my nephew. In fact, I am led to understand that there is something of a romantic entanglement between you and my nephew Jethro. I hope you will forgive me for writing to you; I am sure that Jethro is going to be furious with me, but alas, that is a price I shall have to pay.
I am not quite sure how serious things are between yourself and my nephew; Jethro is most elusive on the subject (so any light you could shed on that would be appreciated). I am also unsure as to what he may have told you about our family and our values. We are, dare I say it, slightly old-fashioned in our outlook, which is why I have taken this liberty. Jethro can be a somewhat impulsive young man, and does not always think things through very thoroughly. I would hate him to throw himself - or you - into something if all parties concerned did not fully understand the situation. May I ask what exactly he has told you about his familial situation?
I hope that you are well, and that business is running smoothly for you.
Kind Regards,
Kaius Anglesey

Dear Mr. Anglesey
I'm not entirely sure I ought to reply to this, but it seems rude not to.
I should not like to enter into any correspondence that would cause your nephew to be in any way disappointed or upset with either of us. However, you are correct in surmising that I am involved romantically with Jethro Hunter. I do not believe any aspect of this to be 'impulsive' on either his or my part.
Jethro has informed me that you are a tight-knit family who have endured a lot of grief and loss, and also that you were there for him during any periods of difficulty he suffered growing up. I hope that is enough to satisfy your curiosities.
Thank-you for your well wishes.
Yours sincerely, Saoirse Flynn

Dear Miss Flynn,
Thank you for writing back so promptly. I don't think you need to worry, my dear - I'm quite sure that it will be me that Jethro is upset with, but if you like, I will tell him that I corresponded with you.
Our family has indeed has what might be seen as more than our fair share of loss, which has, I think, brought us closer together. I do assure you, Miss Flynn, that if I am curious, it is only out of the affection I bear for my nephew. I hope you do not imagine that I am in any way attempting to undermine your relationship. In fact, I hope that Jethro may allow us to meet you one of these days!
I understand that you are the owner of the Three Broomsticks - may I congratulate you on some excellent reviews of late? Commitment to your jobs is clearly something you and my nephew have in common - Jethro, of course, hardly needs to work at all, since he came into his inheritance when he was seventeen, but I expect he's told you all about that.
Please believe me that my intentions in writing to you are the very best.
All the best,
Kaius Anglesey

Mr Anglesey,
I would never suspect you in any way, shape or form of trying to undermine the relationship I have with your nephew, I know you only wish him every happiness, as is your familial right.
Thank-you for you praise regarding the Three Broomsticks, as I'm sure you can imagine, as I am given to understand you own your own printing establishment. I do hope I can rely on your good custom, should you ever be in the area.
Yours sincerely, Saoirse Flynn

My dear Miss Flynn,
I'm so glad we see it the same way. I do indeed wish Jethro happiness, as I'm sure you do too. It's just so often so difficult to know where real happiness will lie, isn't it?
I do own my own business - along with my brother. I'm quite sure that it is not as varied and interesting as your work though - you must have a great deal of stories to tell, working in a pub. And to be sure - it is many years since I drank in the Three Broomsticks, but it used to be a favourite haunt of mine!
Regards,
Kaius Anglesey

Mr Anglesey,
Indeed, I couldn't agree more. It was certainly very surprising to myself, and also to Jethro, I'm sure, to find 'real happiness', as you so aptly phrased it, with each other.
I'l look forwards to meeting you in the future then, I hope we can once again bear the honour of your approval as an establishment.
I was re-reading your previous letters - I am in the habit of keeping correspondence for later reference - and I noted something I believe I had previously neglected: you do not need to tell Jethro that we have exchanged letters on my behalf, I am able to tell him myself, although I thank-you for your kindness in offering.
Yours sincerely, Saoirse Flynn.
