How are you, my friend? I realise that my correspondance has lapsed sadly in the last few months - I've been so busy getting the garden under control. How is the family? All behaving themselves, I hope! My own seem to be avoiding me - I hope it's nothing ominous.
Have you seen anything of our mutual friend whose name it wouldn't be prudent to mention, since our last get together? Last thing I heard, he wasn't doing too badly. I keep meaning to ask him what he means to do about that boy of his though. We mustn't neglect the rising generation - there are more than a few of them getting old enough to be useful, if we approach them right. Including your own grandsons of course, but I'll leave that one up to you.
Anyway, I hope that yourself and Narcissa are quite well. Layella sends her regards.
All the best,
Kaius

Kaius,
I am doing well, thank you. Likewise I hope that everything is alright with your family. I would not take it to heart that most of them seem to be ignoring you, I long ago had to attribute that as solely another trait of the rebellious younger generation.
I have not seen nor heard from him, no, though I was holding out hope that you would have. How old is his boy, again? A few years older than Scorpius, I believe, but even those younger than Scorpius would likely show more potential than my oldest grandson currently is. Damien, however, is quite tricker. I can certainly say less about him, both positive and negative.
Sincerely, Lucius

Lucius,
Well, that is excellent news. Yes, it seems that everything is quite all right. I wrote to them all, and surprisingly, they have all responded quite quickly. I had heard a disturbing rumour about Muirin and some ludicrous Quidditch player, but Jethro assures me that it is nothing. Jethro himself, it seems, has taken up with the landlady of the Three Broomsticks, which is hardly ideal, but I am assuming that it won't last long. Ah well, the young will be young, and I was hardly perfect in my own days.
No, I haven't heard from him, although Jethro tells me the Ministry is as incompetent as ever, so that's reassuring. I haven't heard from Alcaeus either; I may tell Jethro to call in on him, and then I'm sure we'll learn more. I'm not entirely sure of his age to be honest, but I believe you are right. He has certainly left school.
Ah, don't lose heart over your grandchildren, Lucius. As I said, the young will be young. I'm sure he'll come round. I have had any number of trials with my nephews over the years, but in the end, they have turned out quite well, with the possible exception of Kaycee, but then he is an O'Malley. Damien sounds like an interesting boy though. How old is he again?
Yours,
Kaius
