[rs=2] | of british-italian and japanese heritage, midori is pureblooded and is proud of this fact. sora meaning 'sky' and midori meaning 'green', she has very distant and convoluted ties to salazar slytherin himself through both sides of her family. her father has ancestors in cyprus, while her mother is a japanese witch. born on january thirteen three years before the new millenium, midori was a quiet child. she never threw tantrums, instead calmly gazing about her as if unimpressed by the world. she grew up an only child, and thus had everything she ever wanted and more. she was often left to amuse herself, and thus when she entered hogwarts, she was often considered an odd one and spent most of her time in the library. ever since her hogwarts years, midori was very closed off and rather snobbish. she didn't share death eater views of actually ridding the world of muggles, but she did believe that purebloods are in many ways better than muggles, although she'll deny it to the depths of her soul. she was a student at hogwarts - she had learned to rid herself of most of her pureblood upbringing, but if she chose to let out the darker side of herself, she would definitely be a pureblood supremacist. she excelled in all of her studies, having no interest in the frivolities of extracurricular activities or friends. she was never really bullied, just avoided, and she did nothing to stop the others from distancing themselves from her. it was all better and fine, in her opinion. she was always a very solitary child. this grew on to her teen and adult years. she never felt the need to be judged and molded by peers, or to feel the giddiness of 'falling in love'. she has, in fact, never fallen in love with a boy, as she considers it an obstacle and a distraction. she is twenty-six and a virgin, never have or been loved, and she doesn't even care. her favourite class had always been ancient runes, and when she graduated, studied further in germany for a year, and then took up the wizarding equivalent of a bachelor's in education for another three years. she came back and was offered the post of ancient runes professor when she was twenty-one - perhaps the youngest teacher to take on the spot of ancient runes. three years later, she accepted the role of head of slytherin, but left both it and the school a year later to excavate her history. she returned a year later and resumed her old spot of ancient runes professor. her students say she's fierce, a bit scary, and you'd think twice about dropping your quill in her class. she can be very calm and collected in the face of trouble, often deducting points and awarding detentions in between explanations of ancient runes, but she does make detentions quite unenjoyable. a small (and very brave) number of students like disrupting her class for the fun of riling her up. she is very condescending towards others who she finds immature, and she won't hesitate to throw water on professors' faces to wake them up in the middle of the night. she loves being in control and being able to discipline her students without shouting (although that doesn't mean she won't). in every sense, midori is a force to be reckoned with. pet: black owl named tarquin wand: kaya and owl feather (her owl's), 10 1/2 inches |
