Hey! How are your holidays? Mine are quite good so far, pretty quiet though. That's nice for a change though, my holidays aren't usually quiet; my family's too big. I'm not sure what they're all doing these holidays though; I haven't seen most of them much. I haven't even seen Teddy, which is weird.

How's your family? Are you seeing a lot of them?

I really don't have any news. I've just been hanging around Godric's Hollow and reading and stuff. It's nice, but it's starting to get a bit boring. Do you want to meet up some time?

Lily! I miss you! My holidays are pretty much the same as yours. Okay, but boring and quiet. I haven't seen much of my siblings, actually. Which makes me sad because I used to look forward to summer because we always got to spend so much time together, you know?

I don't have any news, either. Okay, that's a lie. I do have some news, but it's not exciting or anything.

Oh well, I suppose nothing happening's better than bad things happening. Is Roland still living at home? James is still here but I think he's looking for his own place. I only see him when he's not at work or sleeping or off seeing Cassie, which isn't very often. And Albus... I don't even know what Albus does all day.

What's your news?? Tell me!

Oh, and I have some news now. I found out this morning that I'm a prefect. I don't know why they'd make me one, I honestly don't. I'm scared of everyone! You don't mind, do you?

We could go for coffee in the Tamarisk Tree and then go book shopping? I met your brother last time I was in the Tamarisk Tree

I reckon you're right. I don't know what's up with Roland - I haven't seen him much! You're brothers are certainly one of a kind, aren't they?

My news, ugh, gosh. It's totally embarrassing, though it shouldn't be. I got my period for the first time! Mum says that I'm a woman now. If this is why, I'd rather stay a little girl forever!

You made prefect?! That's so awesome, Lils! You're going to be fantastic! This'll give you reason to not be scared of everyone now.

Oh. But you must know if he's still living with you. I mean, is his stuff still there? And my brothers are weirdos, but I love them.

Oh wow, that's cool! Should I say congratulations? I don't really know... They're not that much fun... And I don't think getting your period makes you grown up, I mean some people get theirs when they're like, twelve, and they're not grown up. Growing up is overrated, I think - let's just stay kids!

Thanks... I guess. Is it really bad that I'm not really that excited? Maybe it's just because everyone keeps saying I'll be awesome, and nobody listens when I tell them I don't think I will be, and that I'm really scared. They're all just like 'oh Lily, don't say that, because we know you'll be great, because you know, we know you so much better than you know yourself!' Which is kind of annoying actually.

How about Monday, are you free then? Oh, is it okay if Hugo comes with us? He was saying he hadn't done anything these holidays either...

No, don't say congratulations. It's okay. I don't think it makes you a grown up, but that's what everyone is telling me. I think they want me to feel good about bleeding for five days straight. But, really, nothing can. I'm right with you! I don't understand why the kids in our year - and even younger! - are so intent are growing up.

I'm sorry, Lily. Is there a way to revoke it or something? I mean, if you're that against it and are scared, they shouldn't force you into it. You'll have a partner every night you're on duty, won't you? And you don't have prefect duty every night, so those are two things to look forward to. I'm just trying to find positive things about it. I'm really not trying to be annoying.

I'm free Monday, yes! Hugo? Yeah, sure, Hugo can come along! What should we do?

I just wondered, that's all. Because James is still living at home, pretty much. I mean, he's not actually here a lot of the time, and he sleeps a lot of the time he is here, but still. I just wondered what Roland was doing.

I know. I mean, it's not a bad thing to get periods, I suppose - I mean, it's just one of those things, isn't it? Comes with having ovaries. To be honest, I don't get them that often still. Not every month, anyway.

I don't know. I don't think I want to revoke it - I suppose I'll live with it. Unless you want it? And you're not being annoying, because you're listening to me. I just hate the way everyone treats me like they know better than me, even when it's me we're talking about, you know? I know the things I'm good at the things I'm not good at - I'm not just saying it to get compliments. I don't go round saying I'm bad at, I don't know, reading or something, because I know I'm not. If I say I'm not good at something, it means I'm not good at it, and I'd rather people took me seriously. Sorry, I'm ranting at you, and it's not even you - you're just the only one who doesn't smile fondly and pat me on the head (metaphorically - mostly) when I get annoyed.

You're right though. It probably won't be as bad as I think it will. I just won't make a hugely good job of it, that's all.

Great! How about coffee/hot chocolate at the Tamarisk, and then shopping? I've got a couple of books I want to get, and Hugo says he doesn't mind book shopping. Are you sure you're okay with him coming? You crossed something out there. I can always tell him no - he'll understand, and I can see him another time...
