Well, I didn't particularly enjoy going to work on my birthday, but I couldn't exactly take a day off, not when quite a lot of important things are happening in my department. I'd have rather spent it with family, but of course, what with you three at school that wasn't possible. I'd have rather spent it with anyone than the tossers in my department

Ella, just because the Headmistress has not contacted me about your behaviour does not mean you are necessarily behaving well. For the most part, I don't trust you anymore since the incident over the holidays. But I will be fair and agree that the fact that your Headmistress has not contacted me and the fact that you have presumably not recieved any detentions is positive.

I had dinner with your Grandparents, which was quite pleasant. At this age, however, birthdays have stopped being such a big deal.
