Dear Pat,
How's my little brother doing? I know exams are coming up, so I'll try not to be a terrible big sister and give you a huge letter to answer - speaking of exams, is your studying going well? It's only your Second Year, so I hope things aren't too difficult.
I haven't got much to tell you - it's been very boring, though I might be going to a concert with Brigid and Tommy, soon - if it's after exams are over, maybe we can all go. Er, I'm running out of things to ask you... Have you talked to Siobhan or Meghan recently? Meghan hasn't answered any of my letters in about a month, but I hope that's because she's busy studying and not because she's upset with me or anything.
Love you, Cara

Dear Cara,
I'm alright. I'm a little tired, though; I got lost in Gryffindor Tower last night and I didn't find my way back for ages. I only found it with the help of Mister Louec, who is definitely not scared of the dark.
I don't know how Siobhan is doing, but I do see her around sometimes. Meghan's probably too busy revising to reply to your letters, because I don't think I've seen her without her head in a book for a while.
Do you mind sending Brigid and Tommy my love?
Love, Patrick

Dear Patrick,
Who is Mister Louec? (Should I know him and I've forgotten?) It's all right to have gotten lost in the Tower - did I ever tell you about the time I got stuck in the Third Floor trick closet? That was a little embarrassing.
I'd almost forgotten that Meghan would be studying, too - I've probably repressed my first year exams, though, since I did pretty awful on them.
I'll be sure to send Brigid and Tommy your love, though you could do it yourself in a few weeks.
Love, Cara

Dear Cara, Mister Louec is an invisible Kraken of the seven seas who was banished by the King Kraken because he was too kind to humans. So now he spends his time trying to help them out because that it was what he did best. It's okay that you don't know about him; I didn't either, until very recently.
Yes, I think you told me about that story before, but I don't remember much of it.
I didn't do well in my First Year Exams either - reasonable, I suppose, but not well. And this is Meghan we're talking about. Of course she would be studying.
That's true, but for love, it's sooner better than later, right?
Lots of love, Patrick

Dear Pat,
Well, I hope Mister Louec finds helping humans out very fulfilling - I can't imagine being banished from his home would be very fun, otherwise. D'you know if he has any friends in the castle? I'd be very lonely if I was all alone, and in exile, to boot.
Well, it's not particularly interesting - only a bit funny, and honestly, Tommy tells it better. He was the one that found me, and he spent a half hour talking through the door, pretending he was a ghost and trying to scare me.
That's a very wise observation, Pat - You've convinced me to give both of them your love as soon as possible.
Even more love, Cara
