After the war, Percy tried his hardest to become a better person. He went through a stage when he had no clue who he was. Everyone had him painted out to be a workaholic, the stuck up one, the one with a higher opionion of himself then needed and the likes. HIs own family had pretty much hated him, after all. All of this trying and searching made Percy the living definition of social awkwardness. He tried to be funny, he really did. But it wasn't his thing. The only thing Percy knew was work and being the best, so once again he through himself back into the ministry (with his family's support).
Eventually, he met Audrey while working in the Ministry and fell head over heels for the woman who was basically himself with boobs (in his mind). Being with Audrey made him the happiest he's ever been, and when she became pregnant with their first daughter Molly he was positivly over joyed. Though by the 5th month of Audrey's pregnancy, Percy began to pace his office floors worrying. What if his daughter didn't like him? What if he was a horrible father? What if when she got older, she'd judge him for abandoning his family so many years ago? Percy was practically bald from tearing his hair out from fear when Molly Weasley II was brought into the world. He took one look at his beutiful daughter and was instantly in love, however, this did not last long. The second he took the baby into his arms Molly let out a huge wail, terrifying him to the point of almost dropping her. It was then that he realized he was never going to be a good dad, and that he was never going to be any good with children. By the time his second daughter, Lucy, came around, Percy had almost given up the dream of being a good father. He wanted to be, so badly, but he just didn't have what it took. He reassured himself by saying that when they were older they'd understand and get along better but he didn't even know if that would happen. Percy knew he was the least favorite of the uncle's for even absent Charlie was cooler then him. It was only by the time that Lucy and Molly were in Hogwarts that he realized how much he missed out. Never again would they be young enough to be held or read too, he would never be able to take a day off to play make-believe in the backyard and he would never be as close to his daughters as all of his siblings were close to theirs. The night after he got back from Platform 9 and 3/4 was the first night Percy had cried since Fred died. After that he never did again.
Percy became known around the Ministry for the long resigned sigh he would give out anytime something went wrong. He would tilt his head back against the plush of his chair, close his eyes and let out a deep breath. This is what he did when he found out Lucy was in Slytherin, this is what he did when Molly failed nearly every class, and this is what he did the night he found out Audrey was cheating on him and every night since.
When Percy did find out about Audrey and Zach the emotions he felt were two extremley different ones. The realistic part of his mind made him sigh and remind himself that he should have seen it coming, but on the other side of his mind, he was having a freak out. Audrey was the love of his life, she wasn't supposed to cheat on him! But overall, it made him depressed. It made him take a step back and critisize himself. Maybe if he wasn't at work so much, or maybe if he had been better with the children... But altimatly he knew that it was her mistake, not his. Still, percy lives for the day when he can rebuild all the bridges and get the perfect, loving family he's always dreamed of instead of the quasi outsider he was. [/ul]
