Incharacterbasics
FACE CLAIM: Kerry Washington
FULL NAME: Angelina Claire Johnson. Officially, Angelina kept her maiden name out of feminist principle. She's a little less hardline than she used to be, so she doesn't object when people call her Angelina Weasley any more, and she quite often goes by Johnson-Weasley. To be quite honest though, much as she loves the Weasley family, she prefers the sound of Johnson...
NICKNAMES: Ang, Angie
AGE/DOB: 45/24th October 1977
JOB: Co-owner of Weasley's Wizard Wheezes
BLOOD STATUS: Halfblood
SEX: Female
ORIENATION: Straight, although there may have been the odd experiment at school...
BUT IT’S HOME TO ME AND I WALK ALONE
Incharacterapperance
EYES: Brown
HAIR: Black and curly, although she likes to put it in various styles
HEIGHT: 5'4"
BUILD: Angelina has always had a strong, athletic build. She is not skinny, and indeed is quite curvy in places, especially since having children, but for the most part, she's kept her figure well, as she likes to stay active.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: She has her ears pieced twice, and a couple of small scars; one on her knee from falling off her broom playing quidditch, and one on her forearm from an explosion in George's workshop. Amazingly, she managed to gain no lasting physical scars during the Battle of Hogwarts. She also has a few very faint stretch marks round her midriff, that date to her pregnancies.
SKIN TONE: Dark brown
I WALK THIS EMPTY STREET
Personality
DISLIKES: Prejudice, sexism, tea, boredom, feeling helpless, being controlled, feeling like her family are drifting away from her, bad weather, cleaning, doing nothing when there is something to be done.
LIKES: Quidditch, her family and friends, animals, laughing, being active, helping people, winning, reunions, sunshine, doing nothing when there is nothing to be done.
BAD HABITS: Getting uptight unnecessarily, biting her nails (she only does it when she's stressed these days), writing letters and then forgetting to send them.
GOOD HABITS: Laughing a lot, listening to everyone's point of view, getting up early, giving good hugs.
WEAKNESSES: Impatient, overly competitive, tends to be obsessive, stubborn, hot-tempered, needs to be independent and in control
STRENGTHS: A warm, loving person, good sense of humour, can laugh at herself, passionate, determined, sympathetic, good at getting things done, a strong leader
PERSONALITY: Angelina is something of a product of her upbringing. Brought up by a strong, independent, positive-minded single mother, in a strongly (although not overly) feminine environment, Angelina also turned into a strong, independent, positive-minded woman. She and her mother had an extremely strong bond, which has shaped the inner strength and stability that is evident in her today. Her mother also turned her into something of a feminist, never letting her believe either that she couldn't do something, or that she had to do something 'because she was a girl.'
She is something of a typical Gryffindor, being passionate, competitive and somewhat stubborn, with a bit of a hot temper that's toned down a bit these days, and a love of action over thought. She has always had a strong will and determination, and she was taught to see this as a good thing when not used to the detriment of other people; it took her a while to learn this, and when she was a young girl, she had a tendency to steam-roller over people, but she has curbed this as she's grown up, becoming kinder and more sympathetic, although she is still good at achieving her goals and getting what she wants. She has very strong opinions, but she is not inflexible; again, something she's learnt as she's grown up. She is actually quite good at listening to other people's opinions and seeing the value of them, even if she doesn't agree with them. She never liked to just follow the herd; not that she goes the opposite way just for the sake of it, but Angelina will follow her own values and ideals, regardless of what other people may be saying.
She tends to have quite strong emotions and to let herself be ruled by her heart. She develops strong bonds and loyalties with both groups and individuals, but she also has a tendency to be extremely competitive, and doesn't like to be beaten. She hates feeling inadequate, which leads her to be something of a perfectionist in things she cares about. She sometimes takes things a tad too seriously, especially when there is a competitive element to them, and lose track of the fun of things when they matter too much. This is something she doesn't like in herself, and she has done her best to overcome the tendency; she really prefers just to be able to have fun and relax, and when she's not getting worked up and stressed, she's pretty good at that; she has a great sense of humour and loves a joke (she's been married to George Weasley for twenty years, so she'd have to). After many years as an adult and a mother, she's learnt to compromise a bit better than she used to, and she's also learnt to recognise her own competitiveness, and to be able to laugh at it.
There is nothing she dislikes more, however, than feeling helpless in a situation. Most of the time, she is strong and in control, so she hates it when she's not. She is a doer more than a thinker, so she likes to be in the thick of the action, but in a way that she's driving the action, not just getting swept away by it. She thinks extremely well in a crisis, and has very quick reactions, and is almost fearless so long as she's active and doing something; it's only when she stops that the fear can come creeping in, so that's partly why she likes to remain active.

Relationships
AMORTERIA: Fresh coffee, spring sunshine, and a smell she associates with George; it seems to be a mixture of his usual shampoo, and a sort of burning-gunpowder smell...
MIRROR OF ERISED: For the cracks in her and George's marriage to be mended, and them both to share the things they seem to be keeping from each other.
VERITASERUM:

BOGGART: Her family truly falling apart, and losing the closeness they have always had.

PATRONUS: Winning the quidditch cup her year as captain, or holding Roxie in her arms for the first time (don't get her wrong, she loves Fred just as much, but she hadn't wanted a second child at all, and the burst of love and joy she felt when they put her daughter in her arms took her completely b surprise and is one of her most wonderful memories).

FATHER: Paul Johnson, 67, alive. A Muggleborn wizard who split from Angelina's mother when she was two and moved out of the family home. His job (before retirement) was as a sports commentator for the Wizarding Wireless Network, and it is probably from him that Angelina inherited her love of quidditch.

Fred Weasley, 7th Year Gryffindor
Roxanne Weasley, 6th Year Ravenclaw

Tara Johnson, half sister, 34, halfblood
The extended Weasley-Potter family
HISTORY:
Angelina Johnson was the first and only child of Paul and Monica Johnson. Her parents had been high school sweethearts, married at nineteen, each other's first love, but while first love is wonderful, it doesn't frequently last forever. By the time Angelina was six months old, her parents' marriage was breaking down, and when she was two years old, they split up, just four years after they had married. The divorce came through a year later.
The separation, whilst not the most violent and traumatic of separations, was not exactly cordial. Although it was mutual, both retained somewhat bitter thoughts about the other, something that Angelina had to grow up with. Her mother was a strong and independent woman, and bounced back after her divorce; not straight back to finding another man though, for Monica decided that she did not need a man, and would bring her daughter up by herself; men only brought trouble, and women did not need them. So although there was the odd relationship while Angelina was growing up (Monica was human, after all), there was nothing either long-term or serious (the relationships were kept largely separate from Monica's relationship with her daughter, and Angelina was not really aware of them; Monica didn't want men to become part of her daughter's life and then in all probability disappear, as she believed that this was unsettling and unhealthy for a child); Monica threw herself into being a good single mother, and into challenging the traditional view that a single-parent household is a dysfunctional one.
Angelina still had regular contact with her father, and both parents tried not to take out their own anger with each other on their daughter, or make her suffer for it; however, Angelina was an intelligent and observant child, so of course she picked up on it. Although she was fond of her father, it was her mother whom she had the strongest bond with, as she lived with her all the time. They were very close as Angelina grew up, and as her daughter was the centre of her world, Monica was an excellent mother. Angelina was not spoilt - in some ways, Monica was a stern disciplinarian, and didn't believe in children being made too materialistic – but she was given the best that her mother could give in terms of love, happiness and good experiences. They were friends as much as mother and daughter, and that is a relationship Angelina has attempted to recreate with her own daughter, although she doesn't think that she has the same aptitude for motherhood as Monica.
When Angelina was eight years old, her father remarried a Muggleborn witch, and two years later, her half-brother, Ralph, was born. A year later, a sister, Tara, followed. While Angelina has always been fond of her brother and sister, she wouldn't call their relationship close. After they were born, her father was more interested in his new family, and saw less of Angelina. In fact, whenever she was at his house, she felt awkward with his new wife and her small half-siblings, as if they were strangers who were somehow part of her life and yet not part of it.
Of course, it didn't help that the year Tara was born was the year Angelina started Hogwarts, so she saw less of them than she might otherwise have done. Her new baby sister seemed vaguely unreal, while the excitement of starting Hogwarts was very real and vivid. Angelina was sorted straight into Gryffindor, and quickly made friends, including Alicia Spinnet, a girl in her dormitory who was to become her best friend, the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan, although her relationship with the boys was vaguely antagonistic; Angelina had been brought up to believe that she could do anything as well as boys could, something that made her a little competitive and determined to beat them in things. However, she also found their antics endlessly amusing.
The years passed fairly smoothly. In her third year, Angelina tried out for the Quidditch team (along with the Weasleys and Alicia) and was successful, becoming a Chaser. She had always loved quidditch, but playing for the team quickly turned it from an enthusiasm into a passion. Angelina showed little interest in boys, and loudly voiced her preference for quidditch. She was pretty, lively and outgoing, so she had her fair share of boys after her (perhaps even more so since she was obviously and scornfully not interested), but she laughed it all off carelessly, living by her mother's adage that a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle. Despite this attitude, she had a lot of friends who were boys, partly because of her place on the quidditch team, and her close friendship with all the boys on it. She was a fiercely proud Gryffindor, and her competitive nature made her even more loyal to her house and determined to see it succeed.
In her Sixth Year, she put her name forward for the Triwizard Tournament, and was disappointed to lose out, although she took it with a fair amount of diplomacy, and supported Harry Potter, her friend and fellow Gryffindor quidditch player, staunchly throughout.
It was also in Sixth Year that she made the decision that was to change her life. She did not particularly fancy Fred Weasley; he was a good friend, and she enjoyed his company, and that was it. In fact, she never admitted this to anyone but Alicia, but when he shouted across the common room at her, she had no idea which Weasley twin he was. She said yes, on a sudden whim and the assumption that he meant it only as a friend, since the Weasleys were two boys who had only ever been friends, and had never hinted at anything else. And of course, however much she pretended, Angelina wasn't oblivious to boys, and she couldn't deny that the Weasley twins were attractive, or that it wasn't nice to be asked.
She went to the ball with Fred, and they had a fun and hilarious time; however, Angelina was slightly bemused to find that by the next morning, everyone seemed to think they were an item, including Fred. Somehow, she got swept along with it, and Fred was certainly a fun guy to be with, although occasionally she sensed a certain reserve about him when he was with her. She never thought the relationship was anything particularly serious though, and she didn't think he did either; they were just young and enjoying themselves in the face of the approaching darkness.
Angelina was made Quidditch Captain in her Seventh Year, after Oliver Wood left, and was immensely proud of the position; in fact, she took it slightly too seriously at first, feeling the pressure after they had won the cup the previous year. She was in touch with Oliver, as he embarked on a professional career, and she could not bear to think of what he would say if they did not win.
Later the same year, she joined Dumbledore's Army. She had known Harry since he had been a First Year, and as far as she was concerned, he was her friend (despite her frustrations with him over his detentions on Quidditch Practice nights) and thus was owed her absolute loyalty. Anyway, she did not believe that he was either lying or mad; when she looked at him, she still saw the skinny, under-nourished little First Year with an unnerving skill on a broom. She was determined to fight the Dark Arts with everything she had, and that meant standing beside him.
When Harry, Fred and George all earned lifelong quidditch bans, it seemed as though the world had come crashing down. All her hopes as Quidditch Captain were crushed, and it was some time before she came to her senses and realised that although not winning the cup was a disappointment to her, at least she could still play; it was much worse for the three boys.
Fred and George both left school half way through their Seventh Year, in a blaze of glory that made Angelina proud of them both (she was still in a casual relationship with Fred, but really she was simply immensely fond of both of them, in a largely unromantic way). As Fred's 'girlfriend', their glory reflected on her somewhat, but Seventh Year still felt as if it finished under a shadow, with the confirmation of Voldemort's return and the ominous feel of bad times ahead.
Angelina's NEWT results were decent but not sparkling, since despite being highly intelligent, she had always concentrated more on Quidditch than school work. Some people (including Alicia) asked her why she didn't go for a professional quidditch career, and Angelina couldn't really provide an answer, except that her Quidditch was her fun; her relaxation. She had had a taste of how serious it could get during her year as captain, and if she was honest, she didn't want to repeat that, because it had taken all the fun out of it. She felt that taking it professional would do the same thing, and preferred to keep it as a hobby.
Instead, she landed an extremely dull desk job at Gringotts and found herself despondently filing accounts and worrying about what was to come; Angelina was the sort of person who was fearless as long as she was out doing something, but sitting helplessly waiting for something, anything, to happen was her worst nightmare. She was still seeing Fred, and they met up frequently, but Angelina didn't feel happy with the relationship. Increasingly, she felt that Fred was holding something back from her, and she suspected that it had something to do with You-Know-Who. She knew that Fred was working for some organisation he could tell her nothing about, and she resented this more and more, wanting to be a part of it. In fact, their relationship had become more or less platonic, returning to the easy friendship they had always shared.
Then, at the end of the school year, the news of Dumbledore's death broke, and everything got a lot more serious. Shortly afterwards, the Ministry fell, and open war was on them. Finally, Angelina found that she could do something. She and Alicia got involved with helping Muggleborns; it began with Alicia's boyfriend, a Muggleborn Ravenclaw, who they hid in the flat that they shared, but they gradually became aware that there were a lot of others they could be helping. What started as an attempt to hide and cover for their friends became a fullscale escape operation. They made contacts inside the Ministry, who passed them information about the lists of Muggleborns, and they got in touch with Muggleborns they had known at school, who passed the messages on to others by Muggle methods, and between them, their efforts saved dozens of Muggleborns, helping them to escape abroad.
Angelina joined the Battle of Hogwarts in May and fought bravely. They were, of course, victorious in that battle, and Voldemort was defeated. However, the world had also ended, because Fred Weasley was dead. Angelina was grief-stricken, but more for a brother than a boyfriend; however, the world saw her as Fred's girlfriend, and it seemed an insult to his memory, and to her grief for him, to turn round and say that she had not been in love with him, especially given the reactions of his family (especially Molly), who welcomed her in to share their grief. Angelina found herself unable to tell anyone that her feelings for Fred (and his for her) had not been what everyone thought, but the guilt of living what felt like a lie almost tore her apart. She felt as if she were somehow faking her grief, when in fact, it was very real; it just wasn't for a man she was in love with. The guilt of it all still haunts her.
After the battle, she found a renewed closeness with many of her old classmates who had also fought; it had brought them all closer together. She and Lee, particularly, tried hard to be there for George, who of course was suffering more than anyone. However, Lee was busy popularising his radio show and had a new girlfriend, some Slytherin girl who turned out to be pretty nice, to Angelina's surprise. So it was Angelina who spent every evening with George, just to make sure he didn't drink himself into a coma, or even try something worse, and it was Angelina who finally gave up her nice stable desk job at Gringotts to help George in the shop. The idea of getting the shop going again finally seemed to stir him from his inertia, and before long, he offered her half shares in it, which surprised her, but she accepted, on the same sort of whim that had made her accept Fred's invite to the ball all those years ago.
She and George grew gradually closer, and eventually, Angelina could not deny that her feelings for him had changed. She had always loved him as a friend, but this was different, and much deeper, and nothing she had felt for Fred could compare to it. For a while, she struggled with her feelings, out of the weighty sense of guilt that had weighed her down after Fred's death. She knew that acknowledging her feelings for George was no betrayal of Fred, since she and Fred had really just been friends, but that was not how the world would see it; it was not how the Weasley family would see it. And sometimes she remembered the odd glance Fred had thrown her way when they had been 'together,' and wondered uneasily if that was how Fred himself would see it, or whether his feelings had been stronger for her than hers for him.
Eventually however, it became clear to her that George felt the same way, and after a long period of soul-searching, she knew that they had to take the risk. She braved it, and found that people were more accepting than she had expected. If there were people who judged her for moving from one brother to the other, they mostly kept it to themselves. And the Weasley family, which had welcomed her as Fred's grieving girlfriend, also welcomed her as George's fiancee. That was when she knew that she loved the Weasley family as much as her own.
She and George have been very happy together. The shop, run between them, has gone from strength to strength; George manages the experimentation and production of new goods, and Angelina mostly sees to the accounts and business side of things. Angelina never thought of herself as the mothering type; small children always scared her slightly. However, after a lot of talk, she and George agreed to have one child, and they produced Fred II. They never intended to have another child, but Fred was not very old when Angelina discovered that she was pregnant again. She was a little bit dismayed, but when she held Roxanne in her arms, that all disappeared, and she couldn't think how she had ever thought she would be happy without a daughter to bring up in the same way that her mother brought her up.
She has always been a very hands-on mother. She would take no nonsense from them (after all, someone had to be the disciplinarian, and it certainly wasn't going to be George), but she was completely happy to get down on the floor and play riotous games, or get covered in mud or paint. Fred turned into the typical Weasley prankster and quidditch player, and Angelina has always been proud of that, even when he exasperates her. But it is Roxanne who is her pride and joy, although she has never let this show, for fear of making Fred think she loves him less (which of course she doesn't). Angelina sees herself in Roxanne; it's subsumed in Weasley traits, to be sure, and it has somehow mutated into a book-loving Ravenclaw, but she sees her stubbornness, strength of will, pride and passion, all recreated in her daughter. She is also proud of Roxanne's creativity, although she isn't quite sure how to let Roxie know this; she hopes she realises without being told.
Recently, she and Geroge have been going through something of a rocky patch, although she hopes they're through the worst of it. She is concerned for her husband, however, who appears preoccupied and worried about something. For some reason, too, seeing cracks in their relationship has brought back some of her old guilt about Fred, and her 'fake' love for him. She also worries about her children; Fred isn't at home much, and seems to have drawn away from her, and as much as she tells herself that this is typical for a teenage boy, she can't help being concerned. Roxie seems happy at the moment, but Angelina would have preferred not to see her daughter's happiness dependent on a Malfoy, although she's prepared to give the boy a chance. What worries her is that Roxie doesn't tell her as much as she used to, although she knows really that this too is typical for someone of Roxanne's age. Sometimes, she thinks that she is turning into a worrying old fool, but really it is her old trait showing through; she cannot stand the feeling of helplessness; of standing by and being unable to do anything about things, and seeing her children growing away from her is no exception...
