So, I've been fiddling around with wikia this weekend and figuring out how to work it and everything and I was wondering if maybe you guys would be open to having one? There's an example of what a character page would look like here and you can edit your characters pages yourself. Naturally, it'd have to be set out like that but I can help out with that bit and make like a template thingy you can copy & paste. :) I think if we did decide to make one then it'd be handy for new members because they wouldn't have to just reply on character apps which don't really tell us much. Also, if people updated their page often and wrote stuff like, "In the thread 'Lalalala', the relationship between Grace and Kale has developed even further." So that way, if people wanted threads fished out of the archives or a summary of what happened in this thread, then they know the name & info. Obviously, it doesn't have to be for every thread. Furthermore, not everybody has to create & edit a page and they can just make it really simple if they want. They can also ask for help if they're not quite sure of the coding - I had to play around for a little before I go it but I may just be a little daft, haha. Also, I was quite bored so I just decided to put a shitload of information on Grace's page which people obviously wouldn't have to do, lol. Maybe the same sections but nowhere near that much information unless you want to! :) |

I'm so sorry, Bree, I thought I'd commented in here but I think it must just have been that I talked to you when you were doing it. I really love this idea, although when I looked at it, I couldn't really work out how to edit pages... Some pages seemed to work as it should, like the home page - I could edit that. But I couldn't work out how to edit the character pages...

I really love this idea, although when I looked at it, I couldn't really work out how to edit pages... Some pages seemed to work as it should, like the home page - I could edit that. But I couldn't work out how to edit the character pages... Okay, cool! And Becca, it's fine! Totally understandable happenstance! Really?  Okay, so you see that little edit button? Please click it! This will take us to:  This page! This is your editing page. It's nice and simple once you get used to it! You have your typical buttons: bold, italic, link, etc, etc.  Down in templates, there's a button that says Infobox. Click it and it will add. Then hover over it and there should be a little edit button at the bottom.  This is our template! Fill in the parametres like so. Nothing hard about it, really! Box title = full character name. Captain equals = PLAYED BY ___. I'll help you add images later!   An example of a title of a row should be 'Date of Birth'. Please look at Grace's page to see which titles are needed. The info row is where you obviously put the info! Now press okay and you shall have a lovely looking green puzzle piece left! Please don't delete it. xD  Quoting something is pretty easy so it shouldn't be too confusing! However, for your next heading you should choose 'Heading 2' and this results in this image:  From pressing 'Heading 2', you should have something looking similar to the text 'Biography' on that page. For our next title, 'Early Life', we should select 'Heading 3'. You'll see the effect in the next image:  (BTW, the text for 'lalalala' is just 'normal text') For our next heading under 'Education at Hogwarts' entitled 'First Year' we select 'Heading 4'. Once you've done that, press the blue 'Publish' button on the side.  And this is our result! -- I really hoped that helped to explain things, lol. Okay, well when I was trying to edit things before, I was clicking the edit button but it wasn't taking me to the page you've shown, lol. However, it now seems to be working, although I don't have time to mess around properly with it right now.
The only thing I'd say is that there are no links on the home page to any pages except the latest ones added. Idk if it's possible, but it would be great to have, say, a link to 'characters' and then a list of characters you could choose from, etc. Rather than having to search for the page you want every time. Does that make sense?

I do really like this idea, love. Sorry I didn't say that sooner. The only thing I'd say is to be careful of CANON Nextgen characters and make sure to distinguish that they're JK Rowlings and we have no affiliation with her or the creation of said characters, but you'd all do that anways so no worry.  |

I actually tried to get it to look like that but unfortunately, if you're clueless about this type of coding, it's pretty much impossible. I figured out how to create a custom template and everything but I'm still clueless on how to actually implement it. Like, I have the coding to the infobox (it's pretty standard stuff, I mainly took help of a tutorial), but I don't quite know how to use it on a page. :/ |

You made a template! xD It's a wee bit more complicated than that. To run it, I have to download this server thing and use its functions to install the infobox on the wiki. Still working on it but I'm kind of getting the hang of it =] |
