His background is pretty much open except he lived in Ireland at some point a couple of years ago. So basically, he graduated from school around 8 years ago, when Lyra was 10 and took a job tutoring her in playing the drums. Given how pathetic a home life she had, he was also her only real friend and companion. They'd often hang out and when she was away at school, they'd write one another. But, the summer before her fifth year things went downhill. She had made plans to visit a friend in Dublin, but her friend ditched and she ended up partying all night with Damien since he lived there at the time. But word got out that the famous Selwyn first born was seen 'canoodling and letting loose' with a washdown small town musician. Her parents fired him and she wasn't allowed to see him, which eventually led her mother and her to come off talking terms with each other. She left home and stayed with him for two days until he convinced her to come back. They're still in touch though, despite her parents' protests, however it's a very hesitant communication. She's always writing to him without him sending any real responses, the reasons for which are up to you (I imagine he doesn't want to get her in more trouble, but it's up to you). I'd really love it if somebody could play him. I'm open to plotting anything! The guy in the pic is Sam Claflin but his PB is open, really. As long as looks old enough and fits the look.
