HISTORY:
Patrick Finnigan was born on a cool spring day in St. Mungo's as the sixth of seven siblings. Growing up with six siblings meant that he had to share a lot of things and not have other things, though he could find pleasure in the most simple of things in nature or in his own room, such as drawing in the grass or making daisy chains as soon as he could walk. As he was growing up, he was closest to the two sisters next to him, though he really looks up to Tommy - as much as he doesn't like to admit it - and he has a decent bond with Moira.
Like the rest of his siblings, Patrick went to a Muggle primary school at the age of five. Being free of his siblings' influence meant that Patrick had a lot more freedom to make his own friends and to do his own thing, so he did. During Year One, he quickly grew a passion for English, where he learned about new words and tries miserably to write stories, and teachers often describe him as a daydreamer. Outside the classroom, Patrick did not particularly stand out. He wasn't the fastest runner or the slowest runner or the fattest or the tallest or the most talkative, etc. but he was quite a daydreamer. He often hung out on his own at break times and sit on the grass, staring up at the sky.
On the first day of Year Two, a new girl came into the class. She was a short and seemingly quiet girl who everyone seemed to tease as soon as she came through the door. She was sat next to Patrick, and the two of them became the best of friends. They both had a love for daydreaming and writing, they were practically inseparable and they both had the same sense of humour. Sometimes, people thought that they were together. The two of them happily minded their own business, ignoring all of the comments thrown to them as if they were living in their own private little world.
In Year Three, their primary school teacher proposed the year a task: to write a short story in pairs about anything they like. Obviously, Patrick and his best friend were up for the challenge, and they worked their butts off on it. They often took notes whenever they were walking outside school for their parents to pick them up, or during weekends when they would walk in parks together, and they can sometimes draw inspiration from just smelling something. At the end of the year, instead of the short story that was expected of them, Patrick and his best friend had written a fifty-page novel, which was much longer than the five-page stories their classmates had written. Their prize was fifty pounds of book tokens each, and it didn't take Patrick a second thought to give his to his best friend since he won't need them.
The summer before Year Four, it was a lonely day for Patrick. His best friend had gone to Paris for the week, so he sat alone on the grass in the garden. He wanted to make a chain of daisies, but he had been feeling lazy that day, so he decided to lie down on the grass instead. To his amazement, a number of daisies gathered around him and formed themselves into a perfect chain. Patrick was extremely pleased and he went of to tell his mother about his first sign of magic.
Year Five and Year Six passed remarkably fast for Patrick, and inevitably, the dreaded SATs came. He had practiced really hard for them, that he knew, but he was still nervous that he was going to do badly. Thankfully, he did extremely well in them, and he and his best friend decided to celebrate by going into town. Patrick then remembered how tight money was at home and told her he wouldn't be able to go. His best friend - who knew this - decided to pay the bus fare for him. Patrick was grateful, and he decided to go on that outing with her.
On the outing, the two of them had quite a bit of fun browsing the book shops and having a couple of Muggle smoothies. The outing made Patrick feel free and grown-up, something he had never really felt before. When the two of them thought that they were actually going to live one day of their lives without worrying about their classmates, it turned out their classmates had found out about the outing from their numerous conversations about it in class. They left Patrick alone because they did not particularly mind him, but they attacked his best friend and announced her a loser in front of the entire mall, causing the best friend to break down and run outside to the road. Patrick ran after her, but it was too late. She was hit by a car as she was running across the street. She lived, but she had to go to a psychiatry ward since most of her memory was gone.
During the summer, Patrick was extremely depressed. He was not that particularly withdrawn to people - though he was usually quite withdrawn anyway - but he just didn't talk as much as he usually did. He sometimes skipped a meal or not talk to anyone for a whole day. One day in August, Patrick was allowed to visit his friend in hospital, and even though she couldn't remember her own name she could remember who Patrick was and some of the things they did together. This made Patrick so much happier than he had been for the past couple of days, and he immediately became more chatty and merry at home.
As soon as Patrick arrived at Hogwarts, he was amazed by its beauty. He sometimes wondered if it was a good idea to write about them, so he made a mental note in his head to get his writing book out before bedtime and write a long description of it. However, this note was overtaken by disbelief when Patrick found out he was sorted into Gryffindor. All of his life, he had wondered if he would get sorted into Hufflepuff like his sister, or Ravenclaw, or maybe even Slytherin, but he had never expected to be in Gryffindor. He immediately owled his parents, who were very proud of him for getting sorted into their house, but the hype died down very quickly.
Patrick's first year passed quickly with lots of laughs, tears and weirdness. Patrick did alright in his exams, though he did extremely well in Astronomy and he very nearly failed History of Magic. With his second year right in front of him, the young Gryffindor is ready to take on new challenges as they come by him.
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:
Kerstin felt a little chatty that evening. Maybe it was because she was all jittery about being sorted into Hrabrost, House of the Brave, or she was in the mood to make some new friends. Either way, she wanted to talk to someone, and to talk a lot. She didn't care much about the topic either; whether it was Quidditch or boys or even classes, she needed to open her mouth. Maybe it was because of all the excitement of finally going to Durmstrang and having brand-new friends who are just like her. After all, she wasn't very popular in her Muggle primary school. Yeah, she thought. I'll go with that.
When she made her way down to the Common Room after unpacking her stuff neatly and placing it carefully in her dorm, she found it a bit shocking for the Common Room to be empty. Maybe everyone had already left for dinner, she thought. What a pity. She looked around to see if she was the only person there, checking behind doors, in cupboards, and for the sake of it, under the chairs and sofas. Well, Kerstin had always been a bit silly, and this was no exception.
Finally, Ker found someone on the armchair, a boy about her age. He had this messy brown hair that made her blush furiously, and trying to stop herself from looking like some sort of creeper, she turned away from him. She took a couple of deep breaths before tiptoeing to the spot next to him. "Hello," she began. "My name is Kerstin."
