better run faster than my bullet!
”Am I better off dead? Am I better off a quitter?
They say I’m better off now, than I ever was with her.
As they take me to my local down the street,
I’m smiling, but I’m dying, trying not to drag my feet.”[/center]

[CHARACTER.PERSONALITY]
FAVORITE CLASS: Potions at a pinch, though he does like all classes.
LEAST FAVORITE CLASS: Probably…. Astronomy.
HOBBIES: Playing cricket (he got hooked on to it in India and now he’s absolutely obsessed), playing Quidditch, adventure sports like kayaking or abseiling, reading adventure novels, not running into Alysha, spending time with Leela
LIKES: Mystery novels, being active, travelling the world, spending time with his cousins (well, Diya and Leela, anyway), Indian food or any spicy food for that matter. Heck, he loves any kind of challenge….
DISLIKES: Alysha ever since she became what she is today, his Aunt Parvati most of the time, being bored or having nothing to do, the Hogwarts feasts (yes, strange as it sounds, he prefers Indian food), Diya’s pessimism and constant self-deprecation.
GOOD HABITS: Makes friends with most everyone, hardly ever holds grudges, faces challenges head-on
BAD HABITS: Interrupts people, often winds people up when he has nothing to do, fidgets constantly
STRENGTHS: Extremely well-organized (timetable and all), intuitive and an expert at lateral thinking, optimistic
WEAKNESSES: Slightly prejudiced, gets bored easily, compulsive flirt
OVERALL PERSONALITY: If one had to describe Dhruv in one word, that word would be happy. He’s possibly the most optimistic person you’d find outside of Hufflepuff. He makes friends easily, and prides himself on being able to not make enemies fast (aside of most of Lysha’s friends). He is also a very determined person; when he wants something, nothing can stop him from getting it. However, he’s neither impulsive nor reckless, and even the decisions he makes that seem rash are actually very well-thought-out.
He gets bored very easily; nothing can capture his attention for very long. The only thing he actually pays attention to for more than five minutes is his lessons. Despite his fun-loving and laid-back nature normally, he’s a totally different person in class. He’s very attentive and hangs on the teacher’s every word, even in History of Magic, and often gets into a sort of meditative state where all he can hear is the teacher, and all that can shake him out of it is the bell.
Since his fourth year started, he’s been something of a flirt. He was a bit of a, well, dork before, but he’s wised up considerably and has even dated one or two girls, though he’s been in only one serious relationship (see history). He enjoys any kind of adventure or challenge, be it physical or mental. From a very young age, he’s been subjected to all kinds of challenges, and as a result knows how to face most of them (except the emotional ones). He enjoys playing Quidditch for the fun of it too, despite the fact that he didn’t make the team.
but he's coming for you
yeah, he's coming for you
yeah, he's coming for you

VERITASERUM: 1) He sometimes feels that he’s still hung up over Drishti. (see history)

HISTORY: Dhruv was born into a very chaotic household. With his father working for the Department of International Magical Cooperation and his mother writing a travel blog, the family was never stationed in one place. They were constantly travelling all over the world, and Dhruv too accompanied them as soon as he could walk and talk. He’s travelled all over Europe, and most of Asia as well, and he’s enjoyed every moment of it. The travelling also got him into adventure sports; he loves them, and the thrill they bring. However, he also spent the majority of time (when he wasn’t travelling) with his Nani and Nana in India. In fact, he hadn’t been to the UK until he got his Hogwarts letter.
At the present moment, Stephen and Padma have finally settled down and bought a house close to the Zabini Manor; they spend one month of the summer vacation in India, and the next in England.
In India, he made many Muggle friends, one of them being a girl called Drishti. She was a lot like his cousin Leela is now; bouncy, bubbly and insane. She lived next door to his Nani and Nana, and he’s known her ever since he was two. She was his first friend, and she was at least partly responsible for making him what he is today. If he hadn’t known her, he thinks, he might’ve become a silent bookworm with no social skills. Everyone made fun of him for hanging out with a girl, but he was completely unfazed. She was a complete tomboy, and was completely at ease doing ‘guy things’, so there was hardly any awkwardness.
When Dhruv was three, his brother was born, and for a short while, Dhruv was absolutely jealous of him. He felt that all the attention that had been lavished on him previously was now given to his brother – heck, his parents even stopped travelling the world for a while for him – but soon got over it, and now he is as close as can be to his brother, and will always help him out and defend hi m from bullies or people who threaten him.
When Dhruv was nine, Alysha went to Hogwarts. She was the first one from their clan to go, and when she was Sorted into Slytherin, she told all of them that they better be in Slytherin or else. Dhruv, however, knew that he had zero Slytherin traits in him, and was terrified of Alysha from that day onwards. He had always been a little intimidated by her, but he looked up to and idolized her; that, however, stopped after her ‘descent into madness’ as he calls it.
The next year, it was Diya’s turn, and she got Sorted into Ravenclaw. Although Alysha was extremely disappointed in Diya for that, Dhruv was very happy; he had always been close to Diya. He was pretty sure he’d be in Ravenclaw, so he was pleased that when he reached Hogwarts the next year, he wouldn’t be totally lost because he’d have Diya to guide him.
The next year was his turn, and he was excited to finally go to Hogwarts. However, he wouldn’t get to see his Muggle friends as much anymore, which he regretted a lot. He was almost Sorted into Gryffindor, but for fear of Alysha’s wrath he begged the Hat not to put him there, and it compelled, putting him in Ravenclaw instead; a decision for which he is extremely grateful. He still used to go back to India every summer, and spend some time with his Muggle friends, having told them that he went to a boarding school in Scotland, which is not a lie, but not the whole truth either.
His life at Hogwarts was relatively drama-less and carefree for the first four years. He made quite a few friends and his life was quite idyllic. He was mostly oblivious to the drama among the rest of his year, spending most of his time with Diya and her friends.
During the summer between his third and fourth year, he was hanging out with Drishti like he did every year, and they were chatting about this and that, when suddenly, she confessed that she’d liked him for a long time. He, too, had had a little crush on her for years, but was simply too much of a chicken to admit it; so he happily accepted, and they began to go out. Needless to say, their relationship did not go very well. Towards the end of it, they were fighting practically every day, and finally they just decided to stay friends, because going out with someone you’ve known since you were both in diapers has its disadvantages. Thankfully, after the break-up they went right back to what they were like before, with no awkwardness whatsoever.
The last summer (i.e. the summer between Dhruv’s fourth and fifth year), Drishti suddenly announced that her family was moving to the United States. Dhruv was shocked, mostly because there was no way they’d be able to keep in touch anymore; owls simply took too long to reach the US and he could not operate muggle post or e-mails from Hogwarts. He promised her in vain that he’d keep in touch, but he knew he wouldn’t be able to keep his promise. He simply hopes she won’t be too angry with him (or at least remember him) once they meet again. He, on his part, will never forget her.
